Happy New Year's Eve, everyone!

I realize I haven't posted much in the last week or so, though I have four wishlist_fic prompts left; I caught the inevitable holiday cold from staying up late so many nights writing and going out. I've been writing some, but nothing I want to post until the resultant brain-fog clears. Ugh. Sorry!

The actual holiday parts have been great, though - and I now have permission to pass on my excellent family news: I'm going to be an auntie, in August of next year! \0/ My mom is over the moon; and my brother is already neurotic (in a Must.Buy.Baby.Stuff and Must.Pamper.Wife way) about becoming a daddy. It's a good look on him. I'll be praying every day 'til then that everything goes perfectly for them.

Expect summary posts on the year's fic writing, entertainment consumption, and with any luck another fic or two Saturday or Sunday. Oh, and the Yuletide reveal, of course. =)

Happy 2011, everyone! May your upcoming New Year's Resolutions (if any) be as successful as mine have been the last two years, and may the year itself be happier than the last.

Congrats on the aunt thing - all the fun of the kiddies and little of the responsibility! I've got three nieces, a nephew, and 3 grandnephews, and one more grandniece/nephew on the way, so far I think I've only ever changed a nappy once...

Lucky you! I'm sure they'll want to schedule me for babysitting duty sometimes, since we live in the same town; but I'm just really thrilled for them. And not just because it means my Mom will stop bugging me about grandbabies for awhile. *grin*

It's so cute to watch him! We were out at Wal-Mart for some reason the other day, and he was finishing up his usual visit to Electronics when he spotted a sale on baby clothes, and his eyes just lit up. "I have to buy a prize for her," says he, and dropped about $20 on several adorable little outfits. Just for her, riiiight. *grin*

(Which, hey. That reminds me. Now that the year's turned, I can look into spending money on cons again. I remember vaguely that there was one supposed to be nearby in the spring that Butcher was going to be at...?)

Yep, Jim and Shannon Butcher are two of the authors slated for this year's Norwescon (http://www.norwescon.org/), which is held Easter weekend at the Doubletree Inn in Seatac. I've got a room with two queen beds reserved for the weekend and have one lady slated to join me (negolith2) and possibly another as well. Let me know if you're interested and I can see about getting a rollaway bed, unless you don't mind sharing a bed. There's also the possibility of a twin air bed, which I wouldn't mind using at all.

I need to ask maevebran if she's still interested; I'll be seeing her today. If she's not, the rollaway bed would be fine.

My NYR this year, I think, is to go Do Something at least once a month where I have a chance at meeting new people; this will fit April nicely. =)

Now, if only we would get some news on ConCon....

Yes, I do hope they hold another Con Con this year! Hopefully it will be in the fall though, so that I can save up another chunk of change for a hotel room and meals. It's nice when conventions are close enough to drive to!

I wholly recommend being an aunt. I am coo-ing over pictures of my niece doing cute things right now. Tho don't let them live too far away it takes half the fun out. (Skype is good and all but...) Congratulations to the soon to be parents. Hope the cold clears up nice and quick for you!

We live in the same town right now, thank goodness, and we're likely to stay within a couple dozen miles of each other for the next good while-- sis-in-law's parents and ours live a couple of miles apart in the same small town, and neither grandma will want the little one out of easy babysitting range. =)
