Qapla'!

This weekend, I accomplished the following:

* Achieved my step goal both days;
* Assembled a Rey costume for work superhero party and/or ComicCon;
* Took a bag of clothes and a box containing about 50 old hangers to Goodwill;
* Made progress in my bedroom decoration project;
* Cleaned out/reorganized the bathroom and laundry room cupboards;
* And, finally unpacked about four boxes' worth of stuff left over from move-in last year.

If I can manage to get my trunk-full of cans to the recycling next weekend, that will be about 90% of my current home-based projects finished, after forever and a day of feeling like I had no energy for any of it between all my other RL stressors.

Oh, and I also:

* Read one (1) book;
* Watched six (6) episodes of Stargate SG-1 for fic research;
* And wrote 700 words toward a fic.

... You know, I think the worst might finally be over? For now, anyway; dysthymia sucks. But while driving back home on my first work day of 2019 (the 2nd), I was thinking about the fact that I finally have nothing left on the RL calendar that I need to brace for impact for [other than the gov't shutdown mess], and I just felt ... light, for the first time in quite awhile. \0/
jedibuttercup: Fast and Furious Cars (fast and furious)
Happy weekend, folks! I spent a good chunk of today with a National Geographic map of the US spread across my mom's kitchen table, carefully coloring in the paths of all five of the long roadtrips I've taken over the years (long being defined as 1,000+ miles). Fun memories there.

I also received a pair of "related work" notifications in my AO3 box! If you've enjoyed my Fast and Furious works, two of them have now been podficced by the talented Opalsong:

Metaphysical Gravity (The Sunshine Epilogue) [Brian/Mia, Brian/Dom]
Fanfic | Podfic

There's Always Room for Family (aka That Time Eliot Helped Break Rio) [gen; crossover]
Fanfic | Podfic

\0/ If you listen and enjoy, let 'em know you appreciate it!

- I've seen my art for [livejournal.com profile] journeystory. And it is awesome.
- My [livejournal.com profile] xover_exchange fic is about half done. *biting nails*
- My [livejournal.com profile] yuletide assignment has arrived! This should be interesting....

- And last but not least, voting's open for the 25th Sunnydale Memorial Fanfic Awards.

Here's what I'm up for, if you're curious: )

Vote, or don't vote, according to your preference; but I'm thrilled just to be nominated. =)
jedibuttercup: (yuletide)
So. I ended up writing five stories for my fifth [livejournal.com profile] yuletide: four full-length ones, and a short.

One of them is a dead giveaway, if you know my writing history; another is also a fandom and POV character I've written before; and the others are all new to me. All canon characters, all different fandoms, and split between gen and het this year. Between the five stories, they total 9800 words.

They'll be anonymous until next Saturday; if you can guess any of them before then, I'll write any prompt you like that fits the specifications I allowed my 2010 Wishlist participants. Have fun reading in the Yuletide Archive, if you haven't visited it yet - 2,647 stories this year, all in rare or new fandoms!

... Oh, and what's that you ask - what did I receive? Three lovely and very different stories:

  • The Man Who Knew What He Wanted, for 2007 TV miniseries "Tin Man". Does an excellent job getting into Zero's head right after the miniseries, lending depth and realism to the motivations of what was presented as a rather 2D bad-guy character on screen. I loved it, right down to the ambiguous ending.

  • The Truth of Reality, for the 2010 movie "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time". A collection of family moments with Prince Dastan (and a Tamina moment!) in the aftermath of the movie. Made me smile!

  • Waiting, for the "Dresden Files" book series by Jim Butcher. A fabulous short introspective piece from Charity Carpenter's POV during "Changes". An interlude in the life of one of those who also serve, as she thinks on her husband's supernatural career, and her daughter's.

  • \0/ Apparently I was a very good girl this year! If you know the fandoms, go and give them some love. ♥

    LOL, this was fun. As seen all over my flist:

    My Anti-Drug is Jedi Buttercup.

    Also fun? The first thing my brother bought back in the States: a Nintendo Wii.

    *yawning* Good thing he's taking it away with him in April, or you might never see me again.

    Wow, looks like I won some awards while I was off in Real Life Land, too. I knew I'd been nominated in several categories in the Crossing Over Awards over at Twisting the Hellmouth, but given the competition I didn't think I'd win any. (There are a thousand plus authors at the site, and many times more than that in readers).

    Well, I did! Three of them!

    Here are my awards: )

    The other nominations I received were: )

    Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who nominated and voted for me. The total of 20 nominations was astounding enough; the fact that I actually won anything is totally thrilling.

    *yawning* The f-list started out at ?skip=975, and it's only down to ?skip=625 now, so I think I'm going to give up and pack it in for the night. My personal news (none of which is particularly earth-shattering or uplifting) can wait, I think.

    In the meantime, let me point out two things of awesomeness which occured in online fandom in my weeks away:

    1. Wholly of Blue, by [livejournal.com profile] ranalore, the story written for me for [livejournal.com profile] yuletide. Gen, Boondock Saints fandom, the McManus twins at an important pre-movie moment; excellent story, twenty kinds of awesome. Go. Read. Review.

    2. Title fanart, by [livejournal.com profile] batmethos, done for my "Moebius Man" SG-1/Highlander WIP. Totally unexpected, and very cool.

    *hugs the Internet goodnight*

    *flopping on floor* So, I've managed to post 7,500 words' worth for the finishathon.

    The Index for "Book's Legacy" is here. The first 6.5 chapters been rewritten a little, but not terribly much. If you prefer to skip over all of the old stuff and go straight to the new, though, the new chapters are as follows, all posted to [livejournal.com profile] watching_river:

    7. Plotting Sequences
    8. Deep Cleaning
    9. Disrupted Rhythms

    I have more scribbles, but I might not get them up this weekend, as my best friend out in Eastern Oregon whose phone number stopped working months ago suddenly called me today and informed me she's inbound and wants to get together this weekend. Eeee!!! I've missed her so, so much, and I haven't seen her son since before he was crawling; he's eighteen months old now.

    I can't wait for her to get here, but it does mean I have to clean my house, and that's after I go and clean my mother's, which, she's probably over there wondering where the hell I'm at. TTYL!!!!!

    Thank you!

    ♥♥♥ to those who've nommed me at the TtH Crossing Over Awards! All three emails made me squeal like you wouldn't believe. I wasn't terribly surprised about the nom for the Beautiful series, as I'm pretty sure it's some of my best work despite being so short, but I was surprised anyone but me remembered Moonfall so fondly.

    I don't expect to actually win anything, given the caliber of the top writers at that site, but I am terribly pleased to be nominated. Thank you, whoever you are!
