moving proceeds!

\0/ All my furniture has now been transferred, and I'm unboxing the rest of my stuff a day at a time. Books and electronics are mostly done now (of course), but the kitchen and the closets are mostly put together too; I got the important stuff unpacked first. :)

Cable and internet won't be hooked up until Saturday (I'm posting this from elsewhere), but otherwise, all is going well with my new place, and the worst of the omg-I-have-to-move? RL stress has passed. (Maybe now I will have the energy and brainspace to get a moveon with finishing BAH ...)



Even the kitty has mostly adjusted, investigating all the high points in the new apartment, coming to miaow at me when her food is low or her litterbox is dirty, and sticking her nose in my coffee cups as per usual. :)

So no, I haven't vanished. :) Just busy. Hopefully more soon!

Success! Moving is hard work, I remember well.

I got quite good at it during my university years; eight different residences in ten semesters. Of course, back then, I only had about a tenth of the stuff... :)

Now comes the fun decorating parts. :) And... saving up for a washer and dryer, which might, alas, take awhile. Good thing I still live pretty close to Mom.

For me, anyway. Now bro & sis have to get the rest of their stuff out of the house. It was still a cluttered trainwreck when I was there on Saturday the 12th to clean my former space, and their close-date is the 31st. *wince*

Congratulations on successful moving from a fellow victim; at least you've got a chunk of your library unpacked. I do have an excuse; the Kid Brother has suggested that we should get bookcases built specifically for the new space -- it being a condo, we can do that -- and that involves a level of mutual availability that hasn't happened yet.

I will spare you a picture of the Great Wall Of Boxes Of Books; suffice it to say that prior to the move I'd been in one apartment for 25 years (!!). On the plus side, I am now in walking distance of a modern public library; then again, getting to the Beaverton Powell's is now twelve minutes by direct bus instead of 30-40 minutes depending on transfer connections....

That's a lot of time in one apartment, and a lot of effort to move!

I've got two and a half banker's boxes worth of books in my trunk that I know I'll never read again, waiting for my next trip to the City of Books.... I'd say it was to help my library actually fit on my shelves, but there's no such thing as a trip to Powell's that doesn't end with me leaving with more books, so. :) Kind of jealous you're that close ... it's a longer trip for me.

Most of my bookshelves are still the flatpack college-budget kind, since I don't have the $$ for a full IKEA library makeover like my mom managed a few years back, but at least they're all out again (except for a few things like the college textbooks I still haven't managed to let go of, and the kids' books the niblings aren't old enough to read yet).

She's never managed to get stuck; but I have to be really wary leaving any kind of filled beverage container where she can get to it, particularly water glasses or coffee mugs, for some reason. I guess she must figure whatever liquids her pet prefers have to be good enough for Queen Beru. :)

Moving a household is classed as a major life stressor for good reason. :-p I'm glad to hear that the worst parts of moving are over and done with and that your'e settling into the new digs.

That photo of Beru cracks me up. "Did u pack mah favorite toy? I can't finds it anywhere!"

I do have to get her toys out - there's only one unpacked at present! But that pic has more to do with the scent of coffee ... she always sticks her head in my coffee mugs if she can get to them, and licks at the dregs. Very weird, I know. :)

LOL! None of mine have ever liked coffee (I've always gotten very dirty looks whenever they sniffed at the mug), but Mr. Scruffalupagus loved salsa, which is the weirdest thing any of my cats have gone for. :) Cats are such wonderful, diverse creatures.

I think I glancingly mentioned it on my May 1 post, but forgot to tag it? *fixing right now* Also it's cropped up a bit on Twitter. But it looks like you're right, I haven't told the whole sudden-stressful-upheaval story here. Guess I know what I'm posting about next. :)
