Dear Prime Time Player 2015:
Apr. 20th, 2015 04:13 pmFirst of all, thank you for participating in
not_primetime! I look forward to reading my gift.
Please don't stress; I'm easy to please. Whatever you enjoy writing? I'll probably enjoy reading. I like people with layers, and watching them engage intelligently with each other is always a good time for me, whatever they're up to. I am equally pleased by stories written close to canon, or divergent AUs, or crossovers with other shows/movies/books I know. I only have a few no-go's, which I'd prefer you avoid: incest, deliberate betrayal of trust between partners, character humiliation, and non-consensual sex. Anything else from fluff to angst is OK, as long as the plot resolves in a positive fashion somehow (I prefer not to close a story feeling depressed).
If you want to stalk me, this is my main journal; my fic index post is at DW, or you can find me at
jedibuttercup.
I hope I've given you some things to be thoughtful about, rather than boxing you in. Just have fun writing whatever you're writing, and I'll love whatever you give me. Thank you again!

- Fandom 1: PERSON OF INTEREST
Characters: John Reese, Joss Carter
Person of Interest is still one of my must-watch shows, but I have to admit I was upset with certain of the developments in Season 3. Watching Joss and Reese interact was one of my favorite things, and I wanted to see what would develop after the HR plotline was closed. Please give me something with these two characters together, either in a missing scene or where something went differently or in an AU where she survived.
I've always been a fan of procedurals with interesting characters; convoluted spy novels; AIs that aren't carbon copies of humans but aren't necessarily Skynet either; redemption stories; and outwardly restrained heroes with hearts of gold. This show has always mashed my buttons on every front, in that regard, both on the small scale (character interaction moments!) and on the larger apocalypty scale (Samaritan vs Machine!) So include as much or as little of the world, and the other nominated characters, as you like. Just focus on Joss and John; and either platonic closeness or a more romantic take would work equally well for me. - Fandom 2: FAST AND THE FURIOUS SERIES
Characters: Brian O'Conner, Letty Ortiz
One of the areas I find relatively unexplored in this fandom is the interaction between Brian and Letty. Particularly since they appear to have bonded enough before Fast & Furious that Brian was willing to go to all kinds of lengths for her-- not just in that movie, which is as much about Dom as Letty, but in Fast & Furious 6 as well-- and they were on hugging and life-saving terms of their own in Furious Seven. So give me something with the two becoming friends or doing FBI stuff or racing or working on cars or being family or whatever else tickles your fancy.
I am fairly enthusiastic about this very shiny movie series in general. The pretty people, the pretty cars, the chosen family themes, the mad skillz, the ridiculous lengths the characters all go to for each other. And these two in specific: I love Letty's strength, and the fact that she's more than just Dom's girl, even when she's not sure who she is; and the fact that Brian was actually good at his job, but still put his personal loyalties before everything else. I'm OK with AUs in this fandom, as long as they're the canon-divergent kind (no coffee shop AUs or the like); and while I generally like Brian/Dom, I don't want it for this prompt unless it's as a part of Brian/Dom/Letty. (Though I am also more than fine with canon pairings. Like I said, I love all the characters, in almost every non-incest, non-cheating possible combination you might choose. I just would prefer Letty not be sidelined in favor of the main fanon pairing in a fic where I chose her as a main character.) - Fandom 3: THE WALKING DEAD (TV)
Characters: Rick Grimes, Daryl Dixon
The friendship between Rick and Daryl has fascinated me since Season One, starting out antagonistic and ending up so meaningful and supportive. You can write gen or slash for me with them; snapshots of moments along the way during canon, or something that breaks away from the show, or set after the end of the current season, it's up to you. Just - these boys, leaning on each other to survive the end of the world.
These two are my favorite characters on the show individually (well, them and Michonne); and I love to see them interact, these two guys who probably wouldn't have got past their differences in the real world but always have each other's back now. They make me want to quote Lord of the Rings: 'I am glad you are here with me. Here at the end of all things.' Particularly since it seems like many of the moments Rick's been most out of control lately have been when they've been drawn apart by one factor or another. Digging into that, or using that connection to AU one of those problematic times (*cough* Alexandria) would be awesome. Or some time when they were hunting together, or helping each other through something difficult, or getting to know each other; anything. Or if nothing else inspires you, even just Daryl being the awesome uncle to Little Asskicker while Rick looks on would do it for me; I'm easy with these two. - Fandom 4: GRIMM (TV)
Characters: Nick Burkhardt, Theresa Rubel
It always seemed to me as though Theresa was cast so that she looked like she could be related to Nick. And for just as long, I've wanted a story where they discover that there's a closer connection between them than just that they're both Grimms: secret siblings, half-siblings, cousins, whatever. I'd prefer no romantic relationship between them for this prompt, but any other characters or 'ships are welcome.
I like this show best when it's about the fairy tale mysteries and worldbuilding and relationships between its central characters, not when it's all over the top drama and amnesia and fantasy racism; but it's your choice where to set it in canon, or whether to go AU with it. I just think Nick and Trubel both seem starved for family in many ways - though I'm not discounting their found families - and I'd love to see that play out in a fic. Who else might know and/or find out? How would they feel about it? How might the show's events and other character relationships change if such a secret was revealed-- or if it had been known all along? Or not change, even? Have fun with the concept.
I hope I've given you some things to be thoughtful about, rather than boxing you in. Just have fun writing whatever you're writing, and I'll love whatever you give me. Thank you again!
