Fic Detail Meme, Phase II

It's been a long time since I did this meme! But I've seen a variant going around again lately, so:
Give me a link to one of my fics or WIPs, and I'll give you details that didn't make it into the fic. Background canon, deleted scenes, or a look into the future. My choice, but if you have a specific question you can ask it in your request.
No promises I'll answer specific questions if you pick a WIP, but: Fic Indexed by Fandom (DW) or User Profile (AO3).
If you're curious, here's a link to the answers I gave in 2011.

Date: 2014-09-23 04:34 pm (UTC)I envisioned Serenity as a smuggler's vessel a la the Millenium Falcon (though still Firefly-shaped) in this 'verse. Most of the crew's backstories could map well enough onto the various races and backgrounds available in the Star Wars 'verse, though Mal's and Zoe's would be complicated a little; they're too young to have fought in the Clone Wars, since I pictured this story taking place slightly before "A New Hope". Probably they were from one (or more) of the Rim planets devastated by random Imperial atrocities in the between-wars years and got involved with one of the early Alliance cells, then left the cause when their unit mostly got wiped out and backup never came. Because of course that kind of thing happened; even the good guy side isn't perfect.
In the future of the storyverse ... I'm not sure when exactly they'd run into Luke & Co., whether it would be during the original trilogy or immediately after; depends on if I decide to AU any of that. But there'd be more, y'know, smuggling in the meantime; most of the Firefly episodes could map into the 'verse easily enough. Then shenanigans with getting drawn back into the Alliance via some kind of painful revelation like the Serenity movie (minus Wash's death), and finding some vital role to play, and eventually River and Luke sort of training each other; she knows more technical Force manipulation tricks, but needs a lot more help in other ways!

One thing about "Entertaining Angels": I had no earthly idea where to take the plot with that one, and I know it shows. *grin* All I had was a request for Raphael the Turtle to meet Raphael the archangel, and I'd never read the book before I got the prompt. I decided to tack it onto "The Heroine and the Half Shell" so I'd have some kind of a frame for it, and it all kind of evolved into a smooshy relationship fic from there. Buffy/Raphael are a fun challenge to explore as a couple.
I tried to put in setting details (wind, time of day, music references, etc.) to support the Trio for Lute cross better, since the actual world wasn't involved; and to draw parallels with the Raphael/Djoura relationship in the book, since that was one of the most fascinating things about it to me.
I have not the least idea where I'd take the story forward; it would probably depend on if I ever got another B:tVS/Turtles prompt to use as a framework!

Heh. I wasn't sure when I wrote "A Proper Introduction" whether it would make more sense to set it before Ba'al acquired all his clones, or after; but I think story-telling wise it would be more fun after. Balthazar starts investigating, realizes there are more Ba'als out there, and starts trying to collect the set in the Grimhold. Obvs, he runs across SG-1 at some point. They think he's a descended Ancient, or something like, so aren't surprised by his dry sarcastic refusal to answer too many questions, but are surprised by his determination to help. I'm not sure how I'd connect the dots yet, but he'd eventually end up involved in the Ori war, since it paralleled the clone plotline; and Balthazar would turn out to be just slightly more kickass than your average Prior. Which would lead to other sorcerers getting drawn into the fight ....
It would be Veronica that took down Adria, though, and sooner than in the show. Because.

I have a serious thing for consequences cropping up from the various things characters have been through over the years that canon wipes away as though they never happened. And though I always try to throw equal kudos to all team-members in teamy fic, it's probably still obvious that Daniel is my gateway character in SG-1. So in "S is for Sufficiently Advanced Technology", we have a twofer: Merlin's influence made Daniel into a sorcerer, and three fifths of SG-1 really are reincarnations of Arthur's compatriots, from back in the day.
[Let me just note: I have a theory about who Arthur is, too, though the show never went there directly. But see: Guinevere references].
This is another one of those cases where I don't know where the plot would go next, since it's set after both canons end. If ever prompted for more, I'd probably slide sideways into a little character fic about Balthazar 'training' Daniel, aka helping him dig more of the junk Merlin left behind out of his memories while throwing spells at him, leading to much entertainingly sarcastic commentary. And foregrounded in front of that, Dave and Becky hanging out with Cassie and Young Jack in a sort of extraordinary young people support group!
