30 Day Photo Meme: Day 17

Believe it or not, I actually do have three pictures for this topic, too - none of which were taken specifically for this meme. Though in all cases, I DID take them to text or email to someone else. In the case of the shoe pics, this involved some fun contortions and a few takes since I couldn't see the screen when I clicked, but it really was me taking the picture of my own feet.

Day 17 - a photo of your feet


The first time I bought shoes with more than a three inch heel ... and actually wore them to work. Some people may argue they're overkill, since I'm 5'9" barefoot, but they were on sale, and I couldn't resist! (April, 2010)


Tripped over a curb a couple of summers ago, but I thought I'd just bruised my foot at first, until it was still super sore the next day. Took a pic to document, since there's no use going to the doctor for a cracked little toe. (May, 2012)


And finally, the shoes I bought specifically to go with my steampunk outfit. They also render me more than six feet tall, but again: cute. And one of the few things I'm actually girly about is shoes - well, and earrings. (April, 2013)

Okay, that's impressive. The legs attached to those feet appear to be standing reasonably straight, and the camera angle also appears to be approximately perpendicular to the floor. Even allowing for a certain amount of creative cropping -- and either holding the camera upside-down or flipping the picture afterward -- that combination of angles looks like it ought to be impossible. Certainly I can't do that, and I am not sure I could even have pulled that off when I was younger and somewhat more flexible (not to say skinnier) than I am nowadays.

I can bend at the waist and put my palms flat on the floor, without bending my knees or anything, when barefoot. :) I couldn't have before autumn 2009, though, I admit!

It was a little fun angling the camera to the side and maneuvering it blind, but there's no cropping involved in either of those pictures. The beauty of a digital camera though (the first one) or a camera phone (the second) is the ability to take many pictures very quickly until you get one that's just right!

*cringes* Ye gods, my feet hurt looking at all three of these photos! Broken toes are no fun whatsoever. And Killer Heels...well, I've never been able to tolerate wearing anything over 2.5 inches for long at all, even when I was young, thin and in excellent shape. :-p That said, I think both pairs of shoes are adorable, especially that second pair that looks a bit like shoes from the 1940's. Yep, that second pair will be perfect for a steampunk outfit! Just be prepared for all of the short guys to hit on you even more than usual.

I can't walk too much in shoes like that, but at work, or church, or a convention where I can sit a lot .... :)
