30 Day Photo Meme: Day 12

This was a hard category for me to fill. I'm proud of every picture I'm posting in this meme, for different reasons: they capture beauty, or emotion, or memorable moments ... hard to rank that on a scale of 1 to 10. But here are three especially memorable ones I'm not including elsewhere.

Day 12 - a photo that you're proud of


I call this photo "echoes". I lost both my dad and his dad in the last year, but looking at this decade-old photo of them still has the power to make me smile. (March 22, 2003; scanned)


When I told my mother I was doing this meme, she said, "you're including the one of your uncle in the snow, right? That one always gets me." So, here it is: my uncle enjoying a cup of coffee while the rest of us buried each other in a rare heavy Willamette Valley snowfall, on New Year's Day. (January 1, 2004; scanned)


And a new one, to round things out. Taken at Fort Bridger in Wyoming on last year's roadtrip, on a gorgeous, gorgeous fall day. Always makes me think of Robert Frost poetry. (October 10, 2013; iPhone)

They are wonderfully shot - the moods in each photo carry one away - the snow picture is just so 'I'm watching the kids play I'm out of it at my time of life' ohhhhh ... though I do hope he got a bit of fun on that day.

Oh, he was just taking a break between playing with the rest of us: recharging with caffeine. :)
