Dear Prime Time Player:
Apr. 24th, 2014 12:54 pmFirst of all, thank you for participating in
not_primetime! I look forward to reading my gift.
In general, I prefer something mainly focused on character interaction and/or plot, rather than PWP. But for theme: romance, humor, scifi, action, domestic moments, whatever you enjoy writing? I'll probably enjoy reading. I like people with layers, and watching them engage intelligently with each other is always a good time for me, whatever they're up to. Though I do have a few squicks, which I'd prefer you avoid: incest, deliberate betrayal of trust between partners, character humiliation, and non-consensual sex. Otherwise angst is OK, as long as it's resolved somehow (I prefer not to close a story feeling depressed).
If you want to stalk me, this is my main journal; my fic index post is at DW, or you can find me at
jedibuttercup.
I hope I've given you some things to be thoughtful about, rather than boxing you in. Just have fun writing whatever you're writing, and I'll love whatever you give me. Thank you again!

- Fandom 1: ANGEL: THE SERIES
Characters: Wesley Wyndam-Pryce, Illyria
"Wesley and Illyria, after the series. I'd really prefer you not use the comics as a guideline here, or erase Illyria entirely to resurrect Fred, but apart from that, you can AU the events of Not Fade Away, or involve the W&H's perpetuity clause somehow, or use some other means of putting them in the same place again, whatever; writer's choice."
I thought there was a lot of potential in their relationship on-screen that was cut short by the sudden ending of the series, and I'd like to see what it might be like another year or more down the road, whether you choose to make it platonic or romantic, or have them still working with the others or out on their own, etc. Or even an AU where Illyria's arrival played out differently. Whatever your imagination comes up with will be fine by me! - Fandom 2: FIREFLY
Characters: Malcolm Reynolds, River Tam
"I've always been fascinated by the relationship between Mal and River, particularly the potential between them after the Serenity movie once she's of age. If you feel you can't write a romance between them, fun on-a-job or life-on-spaceship interactions would also be a pleasure to read."
It's been a long time since I've been gifted with a fic starring these two! I won't burden you with all the meta I've written on the subject of this pair individually and together, if you have your own interpretation. Just, be aware that while they are my OTP for the show, platonic or otherwise, I'd prefer if you don't character-bash anyone else in the story to push them together. The whole sci-fi western, capers and derring-do and how do we put the next meal on the table, surviving despite the scars, freedom ain't free and found-family aspects of the show always hit me in the feels as much as my love for Mal and River. - Fandom 3: WALKING DEAD (tv)
Characters: Rick Grimes, Daryl Dixon
"As this, apparently, is the year I'm asking for OTPs... the relationship between Rick and Daryl has deepened more than any other on the show since it began, starting out antagonistic and ending up as one of the most meaningful and supportive. You can write gen or slash; snapshots of moments along the way during canon, or something that breaks away from the show, or set it after the season 4 cliffhanger, the specifics are up to you. Just - these boys, leaning on each other to survive the end of the world."
I was already sold on Rick & Daryl by the beginning of Season 3, but the scene beside the car at the end of Season 4 (you know the one, if you've watched that far) might as well have been tailored to make me shriek with overflow of emotion. They're my favorite characters on the show individually (well, them and Michonne); but I love to see them interact, these two guys who probably never would have got past their differences in the real world but have each other's back so solidly there at the end of all things. - Fandom 4: SLEEPY HOLLOW (tv)
Characters: Abbie Mills, Ichabod Crane
"I did not expect to love this show quite as much as I do; all the characters are fabulous, but I love these two best. How about some more of Ichabod adjusting to the modern world moments? Or something after the season-ending cliff-hanger? Shippy or not as you choose."
This show is still very new, but the characters already play off each other so well. They're both clever, but with such different knowledge bases, and they developed a deep trust in each other very quickly with lots of snark for garnish; that's always a recipe for a pairing I like (platonic or otherwise). Just have fun with them!
I hope I've given you some things to be thoughtful about, rather than boxing you in. Just have fun writing whatever you're writing, and I'll love whatever you give me. Thank you again!
