So this was me today:



*slow blink* I... okay, so the Harry plotline? A little brighter than I feared. Funnier, in most respects, certainly. The secondary characters? Good to see the ones we saw, I missed the ones we didn't, yay for some of them and continuing bzwuh for others (Thomas, especially). More hints were dropped for future revelations; a very few hints from the past were tied up; and one event happened that made me go, "oh, fuck" in a very sincerely shocked tone of voice.

Par for the course for a Dresden book, I suppose. But does anyone else really, really, really want to hear Molly's point of view of the compounded consequences of the last four books, at least? Because I have to say, there was a hell of a lot unsaid there, and good grief. I... am not sure I like where this is going. At all. I'm really, really not.

*clearing throat* I'll have to analyze it more later. But one thing I've gotta say for now. If somebody fannish doesn't jump up and run with the Athena-from-the-head-of-Zeus overtones going on with Harry and his "parasite" (My suspicions? *cough* wizard healing + brain damage *cough* Lash *cough*), I will be most sincerely disappointed.

I've been thinking that about the "parasite" since the last book. I plowed through the book yesterday. Think I'm going to have to do a review just so I can put down a spoiler warning and talk about all of my thoughts and feelings.

Thank you for not spoiling completely! I'm on page 184 and waiting until I can manage time to read it in one go after a good sleep before I tackle finishing it.

However, since the dread of where JB has been taking these characters in the last few books, and especially the ending of "Changes", made me read the last bits of the last chapter, I am right there with you in the "Oh, FMRB NO!!!" Can you see now why I said before that there would be a crystal cave in Harry's future at some point (reference Nimuë)?
