It's that time of year again!! yuletide sign-ups are open until the 20th. It'll be my sixth year participating; I love the experience of writing gifts for people, especially in such small fandoms, and the whole atmosphere of fannish glee that surrounds the challenge.

And I also love waiting up to read whatever's been written for me: it adds an extra sparkle to my holiday season. So. Dear Yuletide Writer! You are automatically awesome for offering any of these fandoms, and I look forward to reading whatever you gift me with!

I tried to be inclusive but not too complicated in my requests. In general, I prefer something mainly focused on character interaction and/or plot, rather than PWP. But for theme: romance, humor, drama, action, domestic moments, whatever you enjoy writing? I'll probably enjoy reading. I have a few squicks, which I'll list after the fandom details (see bottom of post), but nothing too unusual, I hope.

I am an extremely eclectic writer, mostly gen but with the occasional het or slash and frequent crossovers, but don't worry too much about it; I am very open to receiving almost any type of fic.

• Fandom 1: Eureka
  Characters: Jack Carter, Henry Deacon
  
  I love ALL THE THINGS about this fandom. The wacky science, all the egos the brilliant characters bring to bear being foiled by common sense, the family stuff, the friendships, all of it. But one of my most favorite parts is the best-friendship of Jack and Henry. These two very different guys liking each other right off the bat, and generally teaming up to save the day ever since. Write me anything centered on them, and I will be very happy.
  
  I'm fully up on canon, so you can set it in any season: early getting to know you stuff; the angsty patches of Season 2; finding their footing again in Season 3; dealing with the sea change of Season 4; supporting each other after the Season 4 finale... any of it. Day in the life, or saving the day from the latest disaster, teasing each other or learning something new, whatever. You can have as many other characters involved as you like, as long as it centers on Jack and Henry; I love everyone else in the fandom too, particularly the strong women (Jo, Allison, Zoe, Grace, Tess) and snarky scientists (Nathan, Zane, Taggart). As far as romance goes: a gen focus would be excellent, canon ships are fine as long as Jack and Henry are front and center, and slash would work too. (J/H is as rare as hens' teeth, so go you if you want to attempt it! Just, no partner betrayal, please.)



• Fandom 2: The Princess of Flames - Ru Emerson
  Characters: Elfrid of Darion
  
  I have been in love with this book for about twenty years - I wanted to be Elfrid when I was about twelve - but I have never seen a fic for it. Anything you write me will result in a happy dance of glee! I love Elfrid's strength and tenacity and hard-earned skill and the complexity of her relationships with the other central characters of the book, particularly Gespry, Fialla, and Bal. I've always wanted to know what kind of life she builds after the book; or more about the early days of Gespry taking her in and admitting her to his fighting force (she was one of his soldiers for seven years before the masquerade!); or girl time with Elfrid and Fialla while Elfrid's pretending to be Gespry - negotiating that had to be awkward at first, even if they've been friends awhile! Even positive childhood moments before her exile with her father, or badass old swordswoman fic would be awesome.
  
  Basically, anything starring Elfrid will make me very, very happy. You can go with complete gen or the same level of 'ships as the book; but I would also enjoy more explicit Elfrid/Bal, Elfrid + Gespry/Fialla, Elfrid/Gespry, Elfrid/Fialla, or Elfrid/Gespry/Fialla. Write whatever your heart desires!



• Fandom 3: Falling Skies
  Characters: Tom Mason, Dan Weaver
  
  I'm not usually a fan of post-apocalyptic fiction, but something about this show just hooked me in. Virtually anything in this fandom would make me very happy, but one of the things that interested me most was the dynamic between Tom and Weaver (especially post-Mutiny). I thought it was a pity the finale cut that short, and wanted to see more of them interacting: slice of domestic life post-apocalypse, or scouting, or working out co-leadership issues, or fighting Skitters, or whatever you want to write.
  
  More suggestions, if you need them: maybe an AU where the last attack and Tom's capture happened differently or not at all and they're still working together? Weaver and Tom reestablishing how things work in the 2nd Mass after Tom comes back? Sharing about their lives before the alien invasion? Anything would make me happy.
  
  Anne and/or Maggie and/or Dai being awesome, or John Pope being snarky in the background, would also be welcome but not required. Gen is great; or low-key Tom/Anne; or slash, so long as they're on equal footing.



• Fandom 4: Fast and Furious series
  Characters: Brian O'Connor, Letty Ortiz
  
  I am a relatively new convert to this fandom, and find it very shiny. The pretty people, the pretty cars, the chosen family themes, the mad skillz, the ridiculous lengths the characters all go to for each other, all of it. One of the areas I find relatively unexplored, though, is the interaction between Brian and Letty; please give me something with these two front and center.
  
  I love Letty's strength, and the fact that she didn't wait around on Dom; and the fact that Brian is competent at his job, but he puts his loyalties first. So how did they end up working together in movie 4, anyway? Did she find him first, or vice versa? What were those negotiations like? Or given the post-credits tag in movie 5: how could that be possible without her FBI handler (Brian) knowing about it? Anything about that situation-- if he knew, how he was involved, and how the others react to finding out; or if he didn't, what happens when he does see her again; any of it. Or if you're not full up on canon, something with them interacting when Dom's not in the room on movie 1. Antagonistic but respecting-each-other gen would be great; het would be awesome too, as long as he's not cheating on Mia. (While I do love Brian/Dom, I really don't want to see it in this particular request, even background; the fandom has enough of it elsewhere).

As for squicks, certain things will completely turn me off a story: sibling or parent/child incest, romantic partner betrayal, severely unbalanced power dynamics in pairings, character humiliation, serious drug abuse, abuse of children or animals, unwarned main character death, character bashing, and rape or non/con.

I hope I've given you some things to be thoughtful about, rather than boxing you in. Just have fun writing whatever you're writing, and I'll love you for whatever you give me, I'm sure. Thank you again!
