Though Atlantis had remained on Earth much longer than Teyla would have preferred, the months on Sheppard's homeworld brought with them several much needed changes. Among them, several gaps in the city's administration had been filled at last, including a mind-healer to take up Kate Heightmeyer's duties and a teacher of children. Torren was not the first child to walk the city's halls in modern times, and he would not be the last.

He was unusual for a Terran, though, this teacher; a tall man with an earring in one ear and scars that better fit the warrior she sensed beneath his skin than the suits he wore in the city. She waited until she had an opportunity to ride with him in a jumper to her people's world, then gently broached the subject, asking why he had come.

"The government said I was the closest thing they had to an experienced educator in an environment under siege from monsters," he replied with a strange, distant smile. "And-- given the opportunity to escape a world determined to protect my mother's killer? I took it."

Teyla inclined her head, leaving further questions for later. That was a motivation she could understand.

Robin in Atlantis? Yeah, I can see it!

He's another character I had some issues with in canon but felt could really have excelled in the right setting. Maybe this one? =)

I always liked Wood. It's nice to see him in such a way that all his personal and professional skills are put to good use.

I thought he had potential, but canon spent enough time on his darker edges that I got pretty frustrated with him. This could be a much better setting for him, once he drags all of his attention to the present. =)

Oooh...you know, I can really see this coming about and that would definitely be motivation for Robin. I understand his point of view, because I doubt I would have a very difficult time forgiving someone who killed someone I love, even if that person was under demonic influence at the time.

You know, someone over on TTH was disgusted with me for this: they believed Robin's vengeance kick made him evil and he should totally be over it since Spike has a soul now and therefore isn't his mother's killer. Bzwuh? Grey areas, people.

One doesn't just get over trauma like that; everyone deals with it differently. Getting a totally fresh start might be the best thing for him. Much as I appreciated Spike as a character, and was really peeved with everyone else's behavior in the Lies episode (including Buffy), I had to admit he (meaning Robin) did have considerable reason for his attitude.

Poor Robin. I have to say that I can see his point, but.... Anyway, I think he would be a perfect addition to Atlantis as a teacher.

Good lord, my memory really is shot! I completely forgot about reviewing this one. And looking at my review above, I meant to say that I doubt I would have anything but a difficult time forgiving the killer of someone I loved, let alone my Mother. That said, I would also have a difficult time taking vengeance on someone who truly wasn't at the controls when it happened, like William. Yeah, I can see why Wood is so screwed up and heading out to a place like Atlantis would be the perfect setting for him.

Yep, I'm going back and checking for things I may have missed an rereading a few things as well. Ignore me....
