... Hey, I'm not sure if I asked before. Are you going to the Norwescon banquet? I got another of those buy-your-ticket emails this morning and couldn't recall.
Nope, I'm not going to be able to do the banquet. There's no way I can afford it right now, since my cat needs some tests and the vet bills are going to absolutely murder what passes for my budget. I can still cover my half of the hotel bill & food, but that's about it. And it really isn't helping that gas is over $4 per gallon again (a pox on oil company execs and their greed).
ETA: By the way, are you interested in picking up goodies from Trader Joes and such like to eat in the room instead of hitting restaurants the entire time? There's a TJ's there in Seatac, just the other side of the airport, and I figure we could get plenty of good, healthy stuff there for a fraction of what we'd pay in a restaurant. And speaking of which, I'll be bringing a couple of bottles of wine with me, since I can't drink more than a single glass any more with the medication I'm taking. *unhappy sigh at missing wine & beer*
The food idea sounds like a good one; after moving, my pocketbook's a little tighter than I'd like as well. The declawing fee was a little higher than expected, and I kept having to buy boxes and whatnot too.
(What really gets me about the gas prices is it's not based on reality - it's based on fear that supply will tighten up. Makes me think about how the value of our currency overall is really based on emotion, too, not anything concrete; and that always makes me nauseous.)
I'm afraid our government, and society in general, make me nauseous. As far as our currency goes, it's not worth the paper it's printed on these days and I suppose that is one reason for the gas prices to go up: the dollar is worth less, so the price rises.
The moving part: not so much fun. The setting up again now that's done: \0/ And especially since it got me out of that dark insect-fested trap of a house. I felt kind of obligated to keep renting from my aunt unless I had an ironclad excuse, and my brother was so very obliging to finally provide me with one. I can breathe better here already (figuratively as well as literally).
Of course, my poor cat was traumatized. But her mood's a lot better already.
So far, nothing lost! Some things momentarily forgot as to which box they're in, though. =) I'm so glad I moved most of the boxes ahead of time-- when Dad and my brother finally came for the furniture with the trailer, it only took two trips.
