First Lines Meme

jedibuttercupHave been writing a bit, but not posting; I didn't have the chance while on vacation, and life's been a bit stressful since. I'll try and code some up this weekend. In the meantime, I spotted a variation of that meme going round again--
The first lines of my last 21 (completed) stories
1. It takes eight years, two books, a dueling series of reviews in the press, three visits to that damn island chain between them, and a graduate assistant with too much initiative and a tendency to meddle before Alan Grant finally gives in to the inevitable-- otherwise known as 'Ian Malcolm'.
Strange Attractors - PG-13, Jurassic Park series, Alan/Ian
2. "You don't know what you're asking me, man," Alec groused, hunched over his keyboard in the confines of his boss' apartment slash office.
Data Quality Management - PG, Leverage, Hardison-centric
3. "RRTS Special Ops Clearance Verified," the heavy gun announced as the big man plucked it from its resting place.
Handle ID Slayer - PG-15, BtVS/DOOM, Buffy/Reaper
4. It wasn't until the summer after her adventures at Hamunaptra-- after the triumphant return to Cairo, the long voyage to England, the scandal of her marriage to an American adventurer, and her acceptance of a new job at the British Museum in London-- that Evie O'Connell nee Carnahan had occasion to wonder whether or not the spells kept in the Book of the Dead really required the book itself to cast them.
