So: I saw "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor" last night. Funny. Extremely cheesy in places, even more than the other two, but an enjoyable fantasy/action film if you liked TM and TMR.
My main concern when watching it (which seriously amused
maevebran) was whether I could fit it into my Mummy crossoverfic continuity-- and, you know what, with one major change I really think I can. Alex's storyline in the movie will have to shift over to Jonathan, since my Alex is otherwise occupied; but everything else can fit into my mythology with very little shoehorning required.
Speaking of fic; I'm sure you've noticed me posting more over the last few days. The nice thing about participating in the
twistedshorts August Fic-A-Day challenge is that it forces me to write. And it fell at just the right time: my spirits are up after several long months in the doldrums, and the Muses are returning with them.
The bad thing about the challenge is that it gives no time for research. That means I'm pretty much limited to writing whatever is currently vivid in my head. Which was yay for new fandoms Dr. Horrible and Eureka, but I'm going to run out of ideas pretty darned soon. So. I think I'm going to skip over the Ozfic on the reward list and plunder the rest of it for characters and plotlines I can more easily visualize, and come back to the ones that give me more trouble later on.
For those of you waiting for
backagainharry, don't worry: the
multific finishathon sign-ups just opened, and they'll close for polling about the time the August 'thon is up. "Back Again, Harry?" is first on the list, and I fully expect it to win, which means you're guaranteed at least 10,000 more words from me on that storyline this fall.
...Uh. And I might also, in a fit of optimism, have signed up for the Small Fandom Big Bang? *hiding face*
I hope my Muses hold out, because if I manage all of my current committments, you'll be seeing 80,000 words' worth of fic from me by the end of the year.

Date: 2008-08-05 09:15 pm (UTC)But... remember that you kind of said maybe you might write me Grissom and a fire lizard...?
Except I guess it doesn't count, since it isn't a Buffy crossover.

Date: 2008-08-06 04:05 am (UTC)I'm filing these for future reference-- see that plot.bunny tag that just went up?-- but especially #6 and #7. Bashir = Love. Wesley + Deryni = Made of Win.
*plots how to get hands on canon sometime this month*

Date: 2008-08-06 05:13 am (UTC)It's been ages and ages since I read any Deryni books. I think I liked the first trilogy best. Well, that and the first Camber trilogy. The ones after that sort of lost my interest.
