jedibuttercup: (geek inside)
Big disappointment this year: I ended the year with only half a chapter of BAH written. Obviously, I failed in my promise to update that particular WIP; I just couldn't get it off the ground. That'll have to carry over to 2017. (Current progress: two-thirds of Chapter 19 written!)

However... I did complete a novel-length fic! And two other big bangs! And one of my Yuletide 2015 fics was 10,000 words long! Between those and finishing Lesser Men in 2015, I feel like I stretched my writing muscles a lot, so I'm not entirely displeased with myself. *grin*

So, TL;DR fic meme, here we go!

2007 - 100 Books (averaging 408.57 pages)
2008 - 80 Books (averaging 385.50 pages)
2009 - 67 Books (averaging 338.03 pages)
2010 - 129 Books (averaging 378.75 pages)
2011 - 133 Books (averaging 375.98 pages)
2012 - 144 Books (averaging 398.92 pages)
2013 - 130 Books (averaging 397.36 pages)
2014 - 130 Books (averaging 391.13 pages)
2015 - 122 Books (averaging 364.18 pages)
2016 - 100 Books (averaging 433.06 pages)

Total books dropped in 2016, but average pages per book increased sharply; with the result that overall I read about the same number of pages per day as 2015. A lot of that's due to my reread of the Jack Ryan series, and the fact that I discovered Colleen McCullough. Two of the books I read in 2016 were over a thousand pages long, and a total of 26 were over five hundred pages each. (!!)

In other stats: only 3/100 were non-fiction, this time; 16 were re-reads, about consistent with last year; and 6 were graphic novels, ditto.

To continue last year's additional analysis, 83/100 were identified as part of a series or creative universe of some kind (such as Star Wars). And in terms of genre, 69 of the novels fell under the SFF umbrella (scifi, epic fantasy, urban fantasy, steampunk, etc.); 20 I would categorize as mysteries or thrillers; 9 were regency romance; and 6 were other historically-set novels (O'Brian, L'Amour, McCullough, et cetera).

So here we go, embarking on Year Eleven of book tracking!

Book stats through #104 include: 26 rereads, 12 non-fiction, and 8 graphic novels.

jedibuttercup: (are you serious)
I'm not going to close my Livejournal just yet. I've been here since the mid oughts, I've connected with people and discovered fandom here, almost all of my online history is here, and I'm the nesting type; I don't want to leave.

However, given the latest wave of user migration and the news about the site's servers moving, I've decided it would only be prudent to finally import everything wholesale to Dreamwidth, work out how that dual-posting system functions, and stop giving LJ extra money.

So. IF YOU ARE ON DW, please drop me a line with your Dreamwidth name, or connect to me there, if we aren't connected over there already. I'm [personal profile] jedibuttercup over there; currently all that journal has are my fic indexes and a few copies of my longer stories that never did fit in an LJ post; but hopefully I'll have everything else mirrored over there soon.

My three fic communities are already mirrored: [livejournal.com profile] lesser_men_saga is now up at [community profile] lessermensaga; [livejournal.com profile] watching_river is now up at [community profile] bookslegacy; and last but not least, [livejournal.com profile] backagainharry has been mirrored at [community profile] backagainharry.

*hugs you all*

(ETA on Dreamwidth: WOOT, the import finished!)
