Title: where the streets have no name

Author: Jedi Buttercup

Rating: PG-13/Teen; het

Disclaimer: The words are mine. The world is not. Alas.

Summary: There they were, literally the only two people in the world. Abbie didn't know whether to view that as an opportunity to breach the distance, or a torturous exercise in being constantly within arm's reach of what she desperately wanted and couldn't have. 18,200 words.

Fandom: Sleepy Hollow (TV)

Notes: A mid-Season 3 fix-it/divergence story, breaking away at the end of 3.8, "Novus Ordo Seclorum". In which Ichabod reacts just a little bit faster, and everything changes. Titled for the U2 song.

Acknowledgements: Written for the 2016 Het Big Bang. Many thanks to Iulia Linnea for the alpha read. Art mine!

jedibuttercup: Tom Mason and John Pope (mason/pope)
Title: Now That the Dawn Has Come: Parts 1 & 2 of 10

Author: Jedi Buttercup

Rating: R/Mature: for language, canon-level violence, and some sexuality
Disclaimer: The words are mine; the world is not.

Summary: "Alas! We were lost [...]! We shattered ourselves! We left our elder brothers behind! Our younger brothers! Where did they see the sun? Where must they be staying, now that the dawn has come?" (In which Tom and Pope undertake to save the human race. Starting with each other.) 106,135 words.

Warnings: Post-apocalyptic setting; canon-typical h/c, angst, and interpersonal conflict.

Notes: A Falling Skies canon divergence story. Follows "Waiting for the Dawn", which set up the AU during the back half of Season 3. Contains slash between two angsty, foul-mouthed, conflicted survivors of an alien apocalypse, and chronicles the shifting evolution of their family as they do their best to save Earth from the Espheni threat. (Because canon's idea of how to pull that off... could have used a little applied logic.) Title, summary, and chapter quotes borrowed once again from the Popol Vuh, specifically the Dennis Tedlock translation.

Acknowledgements: Written for the 2016 Extreme Big Bang. Many thanks to debirlfan for the timely alpha read; lanalucy for keeping the challenge going; and everyone who encouraged me along the way!

jedibuttercup: Ben Asher and Mike Banning (olympus)
Title: His Greatest Gift

Author: Jedi Buttercup

Rating: PG-15/Mature; slash

Disclaimer: The words are mine. The worlds are not. Alas.

Summary: "For the last fifteen months Ben and Mike had been slowly figuring out what they were to each other within the boundaries of suits and earpieces and national responsibilities. Long enough to know whether the initial attraction between them was mostly a byproduct of adrenaline, close quarters and secrecy, or whether there was a firmer foundation there, if they were willing to take the risk...." 16,600 words.

Fandom: Olympus Has Fallen (2013)

Notes: An Olympus Has Fallen what-comes-next, established relationship story. AU for London Has Fallen, especially one particular detail not established in OHF, though I did borrow a couple of lines. :) Part of the Duty 'verse.

Sources: As always, Secret Service details were embroidered from fictional depictions, Wikipedia, and a tell-all book or two. A couple of agent names were borrowed from Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan series; and one (female) character appears from the Die Hard universe. (Because I alluded to a John McClane quote in a previous story, and decided it would make sense for a Republican to have been elected instead of a Democrat in 2008-- judging by the in-movie timeline-- if "Live Free, Die Hard" happened to be canon.)

Acknowledgements: Written for the 2015/16 [community profile] smallfandombang. To maevebran for agreeing to preread this story; to angelus2hot, my artist; and also for everyone's who's ever begged me for more of this universe.

His Greatest Gift )
jedibuttercup: Buffy Summers (slayer)
Title: See For Yourself

Author: Jedi Buttercup

Rating: PG-13/T; het
Disclaimer: The words are mine; the world is not.

Summary: Daniel becomes aware of suspiciously cult-like goings-on in California, and fears Goa'uld influence. Investigations ensue, and several paths are changed. 27,000 words.

Spoilers: B:tVS mid-season 7, Stargate SG-1 through mid-season 8

Prompt: Initial part from a ficathon entry for rivulet027: "Dawn/Daniel (more or less), lots of Jack, a kiss, a comic book reference, and a complaint." Then it sort of ... grew. Reposted here to consolidate the various parts on LJ.

Notes: There's one significant-- and obvious-- AU bit at the beginning, a minor alternation from the SG-1 episode "Fragile Balance" (7.3). Timeline-wise, I pretended SG-1 really did start a year after the 1994 movie instead of three years later, so Season 8 lines up with Buffy Season 7. The resulting alterations to B:tVS canon start with an extra 24 hours added to the Buffy episode "Get It Done" (7.15), between the burial and the 'calling an emergency', and veer wider and wider from there. :)

See For Yourself )
jedibuttercup: Tom Mason and John Pope (mason/pope)
Title: Waiting for the Dawn

Author: Jedi Buttercup

Rating: R/Mature
Disclaimer: The words are mine; the world is not.

Summary: "Such was the defeat of the rulers of Xibalba: accomplished only through wonders, only through self-transformation." 43,500 words.

Warnings: Violence; post-apocalyptic setting; canon-typical h/c, angst, and interpersonal conflict; semi-canonical death of a minor character; family feels; and a warm-fuzzy ending.

Notes: A Falling Skies canon divergent AU, beginning during 3.05 "Search and Rescue" and continuing through the end of the season. Contains low-key slash. Summary and chapter titles borrowed from the Popul Vuh.

Acknowledgements: To sulien, pronker, edenfalling and xlade for being a huge encouragement when I needed it, and everyone else who reads and comments on my more obscure work.

Title: The Grail Prophecies

Author: Jedi Buttercup

Rating: PG-13/T; het
Disclaimer: The words are mine; the world is not.

Summary: Slayer meets archaeologist on a plane back from England, phone numbers are exchanged, and prophecies unfold. 18,000 words.

Acknowledgements: Initial part from a ficathon entry for Lisette; the rest dedicated mostly to Ava.

Notes: An AU/crossover take on the resolution of the Ancient and Ori arcs. Contains more conversation than action; bad poetry mostly mine, though I borrowed the definition of "Carter" from the SGA Legacy novels. Previously posted in pieces at my livejournal. Winner in Round 25 of the Sunnydale Memorial Fanfiction Awards in the category "Best TV Crossover".

The Grail Prophecies  )
jedibuttercup: Buffy Summers (slayer)
Title: Cancelling the Apocalypse

Author: Jedi Buttercup

Rating: PG-13/T
Disclaimer: The words are mine; the world is not.

Summary: The PPDC had figured out that the kaiju had been here before; what they didn't know was that they were actually Old Ones, the footsoldiers of ancient demon gods. That made them Slayer territory. But even a Slayer can't fight a hurricane alone. 20,200 words.

Warnings: Canon-typical violence; non-canonical pairings; language.

Notes: Written in parts for the 2013 Twistedshorts daily crossover challenge. No intentional comics canon for either, bar some convenient facts plucked from the Wikis; set post-Chosen and begins pre-Pacific Rim.

Title: All the Presidents' Men

Author: Jedi Buttercup

Rating: PG-13/T; slash
Disclaimer: The words are mine; the world is not.

Summary: It's a tough job, but someone's got to do it. 6,200 words. (Interludes in the Duty 'verse).

Fandom: Olympus Has Fallen (2013)

Notes: Fragments from the Duty 'verse, set after the movie, originally posted to LJ in 2013. The title of #1 is from the Gettysburg Address; #2 is a crossover with In the Line of Fire (1993); #3 was inspired by Dave (1993); and #4 is a crossover with Guarding Tess (1994). As always, all Secret Service details were gleaned from fictional depictions and Wiki.

Title: A Better Teacher than Duty

Author: Jedi Buttercup

Rating: PG-13; slash and past het

Disclaimer: The words are mine. The worlds are not. Alas.

Summary: A professional was allowed to regret losing one of his primary charges. He wasn't supposed to feel like he'd swallowed ground glass when his boss told him the other couldn't stand to look at him anymore. 8200 words.

Fandom: Olympus Has Fallen (2013)

Notes: Because I couldn't get the movie out of my mind. Secret Service details wholly made up from movieverse depictions and Wiki. Title from an Einstein quote (about love). First of a series, originally posted to LJ.

A Better Teacher than Duty )
jedibuttercup: Image of Rick Grimes (walking dead)
Title: and now these three remain

Author: Jedi Buttercup

Rating: R/Mature

Disclaimer: The words are mine; the worlds are not.

Summary: Rick didn't have a lot of faith at the moment, 'cept for faith in his people; and hope came and went, depending on the day. But love-- it might just be the one thing that held them together. Got them through it. He wasn't about to turn it down when it came his way. 13,000 words.

Warnings: Sexual situations, including het, slash, and threesome; canon-typical violence; and gray post-apocalyptic morality (that does not, just to be clear, conform to the author's own beliefs).

Notes: Rick takes a different tack in talking Shane down: the Rick/Shane/Lori remix for the end of Season 2. Veers away from Walking Dead canon during 2.10, "18 Miles Out".

Acknowledgements: To my betas, for reading a pairing outside their comfort zone, and [personal profile] peculiaritea, my fanmix artist! Submitted as part of the 2012/2013 Small Fandom Big Bang Challenge.

Title: The Only Logical Conclusion

Author: Jedi Buttercup

Rating: PG-13; gen

Disclaimer: The words are mine. The worlds are not. Alas.

Summary: So perhaps I can be forgiven for walking into a scheduled meeting with Ramirez and assuming the worst when I spotted a man with greenish-pale skin bending over his sprawled body. 11,300 words.

Spoilers: Dresden Files/Star Trek (2009). Set in the Dead Beat/Proven Guilty/White Night era for Dresden Files; post-movie for nu!Trek.

Notes: Request fic for [personal profile] jiltanith, written in three parts on LJ over three wishlist seasons. Prompts were for DF/STXI, "That is not logical!" and continuation of same. Compiled here for convenience in a single post.

The Only Logical Conclusion )
jedibuttercup: Terra Nova (terra nova)
Title: Something a Good Deal More Dangerous

Author: Jedi Buttercup

Rating: PG-15/R

Disclaimer: The words are mine; the worlds are not.

Summary: Five times Jim Shannon would rather not have talked about his love life, and one conversation he participated in with enthusiasm. 20,000 words.

Warnings: Sexuality, including an open marriage; mentions of a dystopian future; happy ending; some language.

Notes: Terra Nova as it might have been: with ninety percent more soap, fifty percent less opera, and a bit more consideration of consequences. In other words, a parallel, close-canon AU, beginning at the end of "Instinct" and continuing through a series of altered and added scenes. A few lines of dialogue were borrowed from relevant episodes.

Acknowledgements: Thanks to sulien77 for a speedy and thorough beta job! Submitted as part of the 2012 fivetimesbb Big Bang challenge. Banners are my own work.

Title: Put Your Funderwear On

Author: Jedi Buttercup

Rating: PG-15; het and slash

Disclaimer: The words are mine; the worlds are not.

Summary: It had been two years since Toretto and O'Conner had left him laughing in their dust. It was about damned time someone gave him an answer. 17,500 words.

Warnings: Language, minimal canon-typical violence

Notes: Set post-Fast Five, in an ongoing crossover fusion with the Transformers live-action movies; overlaps with the beginning of an AU Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. A few minor details (Carrera, most of the Simmons family tree) were borrowed from licensed tie-in material.

Acknowledgements: Submitted as part of the 2012 Crossover Big Bang challenge. Many thanks to firefox1490 for fabulous work as my artist, and to hiddencait for incisive beta work. This story would not be the same without y'all!
