Jan. 2nd, 2013 03:47 pmHere we go: View Tracking Year Six! See 2008 | 2009 | 2010 | 2011 | 2012 for past lists.
If I round all TV episodes (whether live or DVD) up to the nearest half-hour mark and all movies to two hours total, then add in repeat viewings, in 2012 I watched 648 hours of TV + 272 hours of movies = 920 total hours of on-screen entertainment, an average of 2.52 hours/day.
By comparison, I watched 785 hours in 2011, 777 in 2010, 677 in 2009, and 653 in 2008. That's a pretty significant jump! But just as the pattern break between 2008-09 and 2010-11 was precipitated by starting to exercise on my elliptical in front of the TV, this jump has a distinct cause. Namely, my brother moved the exercise equipment to a room without a cable jack. So I had to exercise to DVDs and then catch my favored currently-airing programs some other way. =)
