Third Quarter Fic Stats

Yep, I'm doing another quarterly tally post to track my progress as a writer. This one only runs up through the end of September-- not that I wrote much in September, after all the words I put out in July and August!

(Also, I'm still picking at the ficathon story. This just required less brainpower; I don't trust my higher functions at the moment. Thank goodness for extensions-- I hate being ill).

For the third quarter of 2006:

Not counting the "Five Things" entries, which technically weren't fic, I somehow managed to write 47,800 words of new fic in sixty-eight posts between July 1, 2006 and September 30, 2006. Whew!

Recapping the first two quarters of 2006:

Not counting the reposting I did for the Saga, I wrote 38,500 words of new fic in sixteen posts between January 1 and March 31, 2006. Between between April 1, 2006 and June 30, 2006, I wrote 30,650 words of new fic in thirty-one posts, in addition to 8,765 words' worth applied to two longer WIPs.

How this stacks up against previous years:

From January 1 through September 30, 2006, I've posted 116,950 words' worth of completed fic or stand-alone series fragments in a total of one hundred fifteen entries.

(I wait to apply all WIP contributions to the date any non-segmented, multi-chapter story becomes complete, in order to avoid confusion; those are not counted here).

In all of 2005, by comparison, I had only thirty-eight completed entries totalling 32,350 words. In 2004, I completed stories totalling 22,000 words; in 2003 I completed stories totalling approximately 48,000 words; in 2002, my initial year as a fic writer, I completed stories totalling about 75,000 words.

O.o. I think I'm slightly in awe of myself at this point-- and there are still three months to go in the year! Of course, there are plenty other writers out there, some of whom are on my f-list, who easily and near-flawlessly manage more... but I never thought I'd ever become this prolific!
