Skyrim: Special Edition screenshot

At a certain point, sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. Whoever first said that must have been talking about Skyrim modding, because it feels more like wizardry at this point.

As the single most fan-modified game in history, Skyrim has been twisted into any number of unrecognizable shapes. — Read the rest

Authorities say a Spokane County woman drove onto a sidewalk and allegedly chased a child riding an electric dirt bike while intoxicated before later wandering onto a stranger's property looking for eggs.

The Spokane County Sheriff's Office and court documents show the incident happened just outside Cheney city limits in the West Terrace neighborhood.

In this wonderfully self-aware 1990 episode of Tomorrow's World, presenters revisit the futuristic photographic gadgets they'd hyped throughout the 1980s—from floppy-disk digital cameras and 3D photo systems to autofocus lenses and disposable cameras. The real question is, after Halloween Ends and Corey Cunningham, should they be listening to his advice? 😬

Really though I wonder if he's just relieved to no longer be in the Halloween or Exorcist franchises and having to deal with the no-win situation of never being able to make anyone happy.

You wouldn’t steal a pregnant woman.

Can’t believe I’ve slept on this for so long - a genuinely creepy movie. I’m guessing Bring Her Back was heavily influenced by this because a lot of ideas seemed to overlap.

Also this was one of the few movies where I found the “bad guys” to be likeable - l genuinely found the couple likeable (albeit with questionable beliefs) and weirdly found the pregnant Becker to be… unlikeable. I’m not sure if anyone else felt the same? I feel like the tables were turned with characters in this movie and I loved it.

I also enjoyed some of the more bizarre/comedic parts of it - like the performative satanist running the group (Yolanda?) and holding the group sessions in the public library. Haa.

And IAN?! My man. “I think there’s something wrong with Ian” Like, really girly?! Could’ve fooled me!

As to the ending, I need to sleep on it. I actually thought that once the couple had done the first ritual and the entity was kinda looming over her, she became possessed. I felt her demeanour changed after that ritual. But then again, she was still quite terrified at the end, so I could be wrong.

I’m not quite sure what to make of the final scene, so I’d be curious to hear what everyone else thought.

Emerich Juettner spent nearly a decade printing one-dollar bills in his New York kitchen, and the U.S. Secret Service spent nearly a decade unable to catch him. According to Kaushik Patowary at Amusing Planet, Juettner's bills were terrible. Wrong paper, poor ink, blurry engraving, occasional spelling errors. — Read the rest

On August 5, 2026, a SpaceX rocket booster is going to smash into the moon at 5400 miles an hour. Bill Gray, an astronomer who notes that although astronomy is his profession, he is reluctant to call himself a professional astronomer as he lacks a PhD, used his own software to pinpoint the time and location of the impact. — Read the rest

Goldie Hawn told Jimmy Kimmel about an emotional extraterrestrial encounter she says occurred when she was a teenage dancer in California, involving paralysis, high-frequency sounds, and silver beings with triangular heads communicating through vibration.

The Academy Award winner explained that about three months after she spoke to the sky, she was dancing at a theater one night and "got really sleepy," so she went to nap in the back of one of her fellow dancers' cars.

Pope Leo

After Donald Trump repeatedly claimed that Pope Leo XIV supports Iran obtaining nuclear weapons, the pope responded with a calm reminder that the Catholic Church has consistently opposed nuclear weapons for decades.

Without responding to Trump's comments directly, Leo said in remarks transcribed by Vatican correspondent Michael Haynes, "I have already spoken from the first moment 'peace be with you.'

Hello to all members, passers-by, curious onlookers, and shy lurkers, and welcome to our regular daily check-in post. Just leave a comment below to let us know how your current projects are progressing, or even if they're not.

Checking in is NOT compulsory, check in as often or as seldom as you want, this community isn't about pressure it's about encouragement, motivation, and support. Crafting is meant to be fun, and what's more fun than sharing achievements and seeing the wonderful things everyone else is creating?

There may also occasionally be questions, but again you don't have to answer them, they're just a way of getting to know each other a bit better.

This Week's Question: What do you wish you could get right first time, every time?

If anyone has any questions of their own about the community, or suggestions for tags, questions to be asked on the check-in posts, or if anyone is interested in playing check-in host for a week here on the community, which would entail putting up the daily check-in posts and responding to comments, go to the Questions & Suggestions post and leave a comment.

I now declare this Check-In OPEN!

A split picture of the raw fleece and the finished sweater.
This sweater was four years in the making. I bought a Romney fleece at the Adirondack Wool and Arts festival in Sept 2021, my first raw fleece. I dropped it at the Battenkill Fiber Mill booth with payment because they took it back to the mill and washed it for me and they said it would be a few weeks. Several months later, I realized that I hadn't heard from them. To be fair, in this time, I packed up most of my belongings and put them in a storage unit to move into an apartment in my friend's barn for several months. I called them and hung out the phone while the person on the other end went searching for the fleece and found it in a storage closet in their office.

so many photos of the whole process )

DHS ad with Kristi Noem

To be clear, there's nothing wrong with having a kink. If you want to strut around wearing comically massive fake breasts and fantasize about being a blonde-haired, sparkly-lipped valley girl, more power to you. The issue, rather, is with hypocrisy: which is exactly why Bryon Noem, husband of queer-hating, family-values-spouting ICE Barbie Kristi Noem is in hot water at the moment. — Read the rest
