jedibuttercup: (imhotep)
PG-13; B:tVS, The Mummy Returns. Chapter 9 of Adventures in Rome. 2800 words this part.

Ever since the Year of Glory, strange men in robes had rubbed Buffy's nerves the wrong way.

Adventures in Rome, 9/? )

(x-posted to [livejournal.com profile] wishlist_fic and at AO3; written for [livejournal.com profile] xgirl2222.)
jedibuttercup: Vin Diesel as Riddick (riddick)
PG-15; Riddick (2013) x Grimm fusion, 2400 words. Canon divergence fic.

Most of the mercs I've faced over the course of my life have been nothing special. But there've been a few that were something... other: man-shaped predators whose eyes turn black as night when your animal side is closest to the fore.

Like a Storm of Lions

jedibuttercup: Illyria (illyria)
PG-15; Angel x The Walking Dead, 1200 words. Post-"Not Fade Away". Dark.

Illyria stood atop the former Wolfram and Hart building in downtown Washington DC and listened to the unmusical groans of the city's remaining inhabitants thronging the streets below her.

The Way Is Shut (For The Dead Keep It)

jedibuttercup: Rose Leslie as Chloe in The Last Witch Hunter (chloe)
PG-13; The Last Witch Hunter x Fast and Furious, 2400 words. Post-canon for both.

"Who the hell are you?" the Kaulder-alike asked as Chloe crossed the street, hands open and eyes wide to emphasize that she wasn't using any magic.

Of Iron and Fire

Now that I've finished putting up last year's stories, here's the new list: the assembled (mostly crossover, gee I guess I know what my fans like!) prompts from the Wishlist 2015 post. I'll add in the links as the ficlets are posted.

Last year's now all-linked-up list is here: 2014 Final List. Or view 2014's on AO3 as a collection.

(Previous years: 2013 | 2012 | 2011 | 2010. See [livejournal.com profile] wishlist_fic for other authors!)

The 2015 Prompts, in the Order I Received Them: )

So you may have noticed, given everything else going on, I never got unblocked on the last of Wishlist 2015. Too much research required for the fandoms remaining, too little energy for it, mostly, though I still regularly look at them and think about them.

In the spirit of finally getting some groove back, I'm going to go ahead and edit in the prompts from the New Year's Resolution 2018 post-- which I never got around to either-- rather than trying to force myself to go in order. As always, I'll add in the links as the ficlets are posted.

The 2018 Prompts, in the Order I Received Them: )
jedibuttercup: (eliot)
PG-13; Leverage x Mummyverse, 1500 words. Part of the Protectors of Man series.

"You're a damn dangerous woman," Eliot said, giving credit where credit was due. "Also, not my keeper, no matter what your great-grandfather may have been to mine."

Traveler From The West

(Linked @ [livejournal.com profile] wishlist_fic and AO3; written for [livejournal.com profile] lizbet0)
jedibuttercup: (rick castle)
PG, Castle x Stargate Atlantis; 1800 words. Post-series for SGA; early seasons for Castle.

John could hear the pair working the Wraith crime scene before they saw them: a rather excitable male voice doing most of the talking, and a firmer, slightly amused woman, offering the occasional counterpoint.

It's Never the Little Green Men

(Linked @ [livejournal.com profile] wishlist_fic and AO3; written for [livejournal.com profile] debirlfan)
jedibuttercup: Harry Potter (harry potter)
PG, Harry Potter x Dresden Files; 1800 words. Harry Dresden + Severus Snape.

"Oh. Uh, wow." Dresden reached up to smooth a hand over his mouth. "I don't know how to tell you this, but that's not how potions work in this world, at all."

That Subtle Science and Exact Art

(Linked @ [livejournal.com profile] wishlist_fic and AO3; written for [livejournal.com profile] xiorlanth)
jedibuttercup: Elsa and Anna from Frozen (frozen)
PG, Frozen x Thor (MCU); 2600 words.

It was Anna, inevitably, who first noticed the change in her sister's skin.

The Past's Not Always In The Past

(Linked @ [livejournal.com profile] wishlist_fic and AO3; written for [livejournal.com profile] earcmacfithil)
jedibuttercup: (tony stark)
PG-13, The Avengers (MCU) x Dresden Files (novels); 2300 words.

"Jarvis, quick scan for any more disruptions like that one? Anywhere in the city. Pixilated or snowed-out feeds that follow the appearance of a grey-cloaked individual?"

Nothing He Was Ever Trained For

(Linked @ [livejournal.com profile] wishlist_fic and AO3; written for [livejournal.com profile] polgara_5)
jedibuttercup: (dresden)
PG-13, Person of Interest x Dresden Files (novels); 2600 words.

"Mr. Elias." Marcone's hands were steepled on his desk, undoubtedly in easy reach of a button or countermeasure of some sort. "I trust you received my message in... satisfactory... condition?"

Business, As They Say, Is Business

(Linked @ [livejournal.com profile] wishlist_fic and AO3; written for [livejournal.com profile] moonbeamsfanfic)
jedibuttercup: (natasha)
PG-ish, MCU x Grimm (set post-Cap 2); 1900 words. Same universe as Jorōgumo.

Never in her life had Natasha ever expected to be responsible for broadening a Grimm's horizons. But this wasn't the time to gloat; she still had work to do.

The Princess Is In Another Castle

(Linked @ [livejournal.com profile] wishlist_fic and AO3; written for [livejournal.com profile] thady)
jedibuttercup: Dracula framed by bats (dracula)
PG-15, Furious Seven x Dracula Untold; 1600 words.

"That's better," Deckard grunted as Owen sat up. "Now you're all pretty again. So, you done playing games for the old Spider?"

Settling the Score

(Linked @ [livejournal.com profile] wishlist_fic and AO3; written for [livejournal.com profile] xlade)
jedibuttercup: (tony stark)
PG, MCU pre-Age of Ultron; 1200 words.

Theoretically, JARVIS was only a computer program; but 'theoretically' and 'practically' weren't the same thing. Especially not to Tony Stark, who'd been blowing past benchmarks since the day he'd built his first circuit.

Adventures in Cyberparenting

(Linked @ [livejournal.com profile] wishlist_fic and AO3; written for [livejournal.com profile] feikoi)
jedibuttercup: Malcolm Reynolds (my Captain)
PG-13, Firefly/Mummy/SH, River/Mal; 2800 words. 3rd of Though The Earth Be Removed.

Does a man really need to believe in destiny to do what's needful to be done? Luckily for Mal, he's not alone in asking that question.

Where Two or More are Gathered Together

(Linked @ [livejournal.com profile] wishlist_fic and AO3; written for [livejournal.com profile] vialethe)
jedibuttercup: Samuel Jackson as Nick Fury (fury)
Gen/PG-13, MCU/Sleepy Hollow post-Winter Soldier; 3000 words. Part of Temporally Displaced Americans.

"You know, Steve mentioned you after his visit here," Nick replied. "He said a lot of things about kindred spirits and different fronts of the same fight. He didn't mention you were such a smart-ass."

Different Ant, Same Old Boot

(Linked @ [livejournal.com profile] wishlist_fic and AO3; written for [livejournal.com profile] graycardinal)
jedibuttercup: (plot tribble)
Sorry for the delay, guys. The work-project that's been playing havoc with my writing life these last few weeks was supposed to be wrapped up before noon today. *slightly mad laughter* Uh. Yeah. Anyway.

What is the Wishlist?

The Wishlist is a multi-fandom Christmas fanfiction fest. It started very small and simple several years ago: the premise was simply to write twenty-four ficlets in response to twenty-four prompts, posted between 1 Dec and 24 Dec. Fandom gifts, if you will. Since then it's grown and changed a bit.

The community and the rules in detail can be found here.

I have signed up to be a writer. If you want to give me a prompt, please leave a comment on this entry; and if you want to see what I wrote for it in past fests, just click the wishlist tag.

Rules

  • I accept the first 24 prompts I am given, regardless of who you are or if I know you.

    (PROMPT LIST FULL!)

  • You give me characters/pairing, a fandom and a prompt. (Please don't skip the prompt part).

  • If I'm not offering the fandom you're requesting, I reserve the right to refuse the prompt.

The current offerings list is: Buffy/Angel-verse (no comics); Stargate SG-1; Firefly/Serenity; Star Trek XI or TOS; The Marvel Cinematic Universe (Avengers, Guardians, etc.); the Fast and the Furious series; Leverage; The Dresden Files; Grimm; Falling Skies; The Walking Dead/Fear the Walking Dead; Person of Interest; Sleepy Hollow; Jurassic Park/World; and the Riddick-verse. (I do sometimes take other requests, especially continuations of other short-stories or short-story series on a case-by-case basis; if it doesn't fit the above fandom list, conditional acceptance mostly depends on how long I've been out of the 'verse and how much research it would take to refresh.)

  • If I find your prompt in any way offensive, I will disregard it, too. Fair warning.

  • Your prompts can be for a crossover or not - either is fine - and should be in line with what I usually write. (That's a loose guideline, I know, but basically don't be deliberately ornery, okay? I don't have the energy for it.) It can be a quote, an idea, a specific situation, but the more you give me, the more I have to work with. Throwing Character X/Character Y, 'whatever' at me is going to get you 'whatever'.

(NOTE: If your prompt is longer than 25 words, or if you request an idea that can't reasonably be covered in 500-3000 words? See again: whatever. I'm not a magic story-writing machine, and I already have one full time job!)

  • If you don't have an LJ account, you can give your DW/IJ/TtH/AO3/whatever name in an anonymous comment, but do make sure to sign it. If you do not sign with a name I will not use your prompt.

  • I answer the prompts in the order I like best and post them, one a day, starting 1st, Dec 2015. (At least, that's the goal. I don't always hit it, especially the last year or two given RL events, but whatever I don't make, I'll finish before the next December 1 for sure; I always have).

And that's it! Prompt away: the 24 Days of Ficcish Christmas begin only a month away!
jedibuttercup: (are you serious)
My 2015 Wishlist prompt collecting post will be going up around noon PST tomorrow. Just so you know.

(Man, November's going to be busy for me, finishing up last year's before December...)
jedibuttercup: (ichabod and abbie)
Gen/PG-13, Sleepy Hollow/MCU pre-Winter Soldier; 2000 words. Follows Imperfect Soldiers.

The letters arrived every week like clockwork: heavy, old-fashioned unruled paper tucked into number ten envelopes. Careful, legible handwriting covered the pages in modern ballpoint ink, addressed to 'Captain Ichabod Crane, c/o Abigail Mills'.

Timely Correspondence

jedibuttercup: (natasha)
Gen/PG-13, DF/MCU post-Winter Soldier; 3100 words. Follows in what distant deeps or skies.

"Do you respond to every uncertain situation with aggressive insolence, or am I special?" Ms. Romanoff got tired of waiting for me to come to her and came smoothly up the walk.
