State of the Writer

jedibuttercupStar Trek XI fandom is totally spoiling me. You guys comment like crazy, and it all feels like a community, not the "mama bird facing a thousand selfish hungry chicks" feeling I get every time I update ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-community.gif)
backagainharry over on the Pit of Voles. It makes me want to just keep writing more.
(Sorry, BAH fans here! I do love you, too! I expect watching HP6 to give me a boost on that one).
Anyway, so:startrekbigbang. I've not yet completed a Big Bang challenge, but in both cases that's because I went in with a vague idea, and it was 2008, the year of RL smackdown and depression. This year, I've already written over 62,000 words-- a good 150% more than in all of last year-- so ability's not an issue, and I have a solid idea. In fact, my sign-up post reads: "I dove into this fandom with the intention of writing a particular plotline, but so far have written more than twenty thousand words of short stories around that idea instead, so I figure this is the best excuse I'm going to get to finally knuckle down and write it."
---Yes. That's the "facing the media" story. Or, more properly, the "Okay, so they get back to Earth. What are some of the before-going-back-out niches that fandom hasn't thoroughly explored yet?" story.
I'm also noodling more on those reward stories I promised back in March, before I got seduced by Captain Pike. So between those two preoccupations, my regular STXI ficlet production may slow down some. But I won't stop posting shorts entirely; I am still completely in love with this universe. ♥♥
