jedibuttercup: Tom Mason and John Pope (mason/pope)
Title: Now That the Dawn Has Come: Parts 1 & 2 of 10

Author: Jedi Buttercup

Rating: R/Mature: for language, canon-level violence, and some sexuality
Disclaimer: The words are mine; the world is not.

Summary: "Alas! We were lost [...]! We shattered ourselves! We left our elder brothers behind! Our younger brothers! Where did they see the sun? Where must they be staying, now that the dawn has come?" (In which Tom and Pope undertake to save the human race. Starting with each other.) 106,135 words.

Warnings: Post-apocalyptic setting; canon-typical h/c, angst, and interpersonal conflict.

Notes: A Falling Skies canon divergence story. Follows "Waiting for the Dawn", which set up the AU during the back half of Season 3. Contains slash between two angsty, foul-mouthed, conflicted survivors of an alien apocalypse, and chronicles the shifting evolution of their family as they do their best to save Earth from the Espheni threat. (Because canon's idea of how to pull that off... could have used a little applied logic.) Title, summary, and chapter quotes borrowed once again from the Popol Vuh, specifically the Dennis Tedlock translation.

So, I promised that I would post my research notes for Now That The Dawn Has Come, my 100,000+ word Falling Skies fic. *grin* So here they are, in all their over-wordy glory; overall notes first, then specific references pertaining to the chapters.

Let me know if you have any questions or comments, or if you spotted something in the story you want to know more about that isn't listed here! The building blocks of story-writing is always an interesting topic to me. :)
