Reliably entertaining. The original had its own flavor, focusing on Inara’s perspective (though by two different avenues: internally, and through her own narration); yours, limited to Jayne’s POV, brings a genuine eloquence to the near-inarticulate mercenary. One thing that comes through unexpectedly is honesty: he honestly can’t see what a woman like Inara would want in him (to the point that he doesn’t even wonder if it might be real), and honestly can’t understand why he would ever try to force her to be other than the woman she is.
