I have this whole scheme for how to work a bit of magic into the 'Gateverse without breaking everyone's worldviews.

Yeah, I noticed something in an earlier part where it looks like you're setting something up when Wesley thinks to himself that the Shadow Men might have been mistaken about the nature of the Stargate, but they weren't mistaken about the nature of the Goa'uld.
Whether that means that all demons are aliens, or that some aliens are demons, or whether - as seems the case in this part - that there is something intrinsic about being "of Earth" or "not of Earth" that renders the difference between "another planet" and "another dimension" irrelevant.
Which could also mean that Wesley won't be able to use magic offworld. 8-(
