Joyce could be really, incredibly blind to her daughter's needs at times in canon, and not just during the asylum and runaway incidents, but I did like her otherwise, and as fun as it is to write Buffy into another family it would be really mean to leave Joyce to just worry. I don't plan to send this Buffy back to Sunnydale, but she will reconnect with the people she left behind there at some point.
