It's not the pairing that's making my nostrils flare. It's the term. There have been Kirk/Spock, or K/S, shippers on the 'net as long as there's been one. And Spock/Uhura, and countless other pairings.

It's the juvenile namesmushers making the hair stand up on the back of my neck. Nine times out of ten, that's a complete red flag that (a) they are new to writing for Trek, (b) they're even newer to reading anything Trek-related, (c) they may not have even watched any Trek prior to the movie, and (d) they didn't bother to do much research.

I know every 'pretty' fandom is prone attracting fans that just want to play with adolescent storylines and make their favorite characters make out, but it's harder for me to ignore in this one.
