24 Days of X-Mas: Coming Soon! (Again!)

What is the Wishlist?

The Wishlist is a multi-fandom Christmas fanfiction fest. It started very small and simple several years ago: the premise was simply to write twenty-four ficlets in response to twenty-four prompts, posted between 1 Dec and 24 Dec. Fandom gifts, if you will. Since then it's grown and changed a bit.

The community and the rules in detail can be found here.

I have signed up to be a writer. If you want to give me a prompt, please leave a comment on this entry; and if you want to see what I wrote for it in past fests, just click the wishlist tag.

Rules

  • I accept the first 24 prompts I am given, regardless of who you are or if I know you.

(ALL FILLED IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS; WHY AM I NOT SURPRISED; I LOVE YOU GUYS.)

  • You give me characters/pairing, a fandom and a prompt. (Please don't skip the prompt part).

  • If I'm not offering the fandom you're requesting, I reserve the right to refuse the prompt.

The current offerings list is: Buffy/Angel-verse; Stargate SG-1/Atlantis; Firefly/Serenity; Star Trek XI or TOS; Iron Man or The Avengers (MCU); Fast and the Furious series; Leverage; The Dresden Files; Grimm; Falling Skies; The Walking Dead; Person of Interest; Terra Nova; and the Riddick-verse. And new this year: Sleepy Hollow, Olympus Has Fallen, and Pacific Rim.

  • If I find your prompt in any way offensive, I will disregard it, too. Fair warning.

  • Your prompts can be for a crossover or not - either is fine - and should be in line with what I usually write. (That's a loose guideline, I know, but basically don't be deliberately ornery, okay? I don't have the energy for it this year.) It can be a quote, an idea, a specific situation, but the more you give me, the more I have to work with. Throwing Character X/Character Y, 'whatever' at me is going to get you 'whatever'.

  • If you don't have an LJ account, you can give your DW/IJ/TtH/AO3/whatever name in an anonymous comment, but do make sure to sign it. If you do not sign with a name I will not use your prompt.

  • I answer the prompts in the order I like best and post them, one a day, starting 1st, Dec 2013. (At least, that's the goal. I may not hit it, but whatever I don't make, I'll finish before the next December 1 for sure).

And that's it! Prompt away: the 24 Days of Ficcish Christmas begin only a month away!

Probably gen. Unless you go for Zoe and Riddick. Not such a fan of slash fics myself. As for fusion/crossover--entirely up to you. I'd imagine it would work a bit better as a fusion fic though...

You are, of course, welcome to reference and/or borrow theories from my own end-run around that one....

Also, FWIW -- I notice via online TV listings that our mutual local ABC affiliate is re-running that exact Castle two-parter this weekend in their late-night syndicated time slots (the Saturday night ep starting at 12:05am, the Sunday at 11:35 pm). So if you've got access to recording capability, you could get hold of the relevant canon that way.

I am delighted already with anticipation set in the movies.

*also, having just now wiki'd the Howlers, I find that there was a second and even third team called by that name in more recent comics, of supernatural and super-powered origins. Ickypoo. I'll stick with my human faves from WWII.*

Me too! I still reread it from time to time, and I have the utmost faith that you'll be able to handle this one just as wonderfully.

I forgot what you were writing. Doh! That was what I thought of first so yeah. I'm only reading fic in two fandoms right now. This and the MCU and we disagree on the MCU enough I thought I'd go with the other fandom. I stand by on wanting to read your take.=)

Whichever you like better, my dear. It needs to work for you. I already know it'll be awesome for me.

I really need to find the time to write Grimm!fic.

[identity profile] maevebran.livejournal.com 2013-11-05 08:05 am (UTC)(link)
Though if you like this better "Sleepy Hollow crossed with Marvel Cinematic Universe - Ichabod Crane and Steve Rodgers as dudebros and having adventures coming to terms with the 21st Century." I would be very happy with that as my official prompt.=)

I don't know if it fits the prompt or inspires you at all but I thought your description of what Harry saw in the soulgaze was wonderful. And then you made a rather tantalizing comment on what she saw of him:

"Oh," she said, staring back at me, what looked like wonder and horror warring in her widened eyes.

Perhaps at some point we can find out what she saw?

Yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss! I was so bummed I missed the list last year and I was afraid I was right at that wire this year too.

So freaking glad you like the prompt too - you are totally the person I want to see writing it. *flails and bounces excitedly*

*grins broadly* I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

No worries, I know I'll get it eventually.

Okay, I got it!

Author's choice of a continuation of one of three following stories or a new prompt. Stories: "Through the Blue Vault of Varda", "What Lives on the Other Side", "Seek and Ye Shall Find".

The new prompt is as follows: Dresden Files/Grimm, Harry Dresden/Nick Burkhart & company (not romance), post "Dead Beat" for Dresden Files, last two episodes of season 2 for Grimm. Portland has a zombie problem, as reported by the Paranet, and Ramirez has his hands full elsewhere, so Harry gets called in to deal with what he thinks are more Kemmlerites. Harry is in for a real surprise and so are Nick and company.

kerravonsen: Steampunk raygun: "R is for Raygun" (raygun)

Okay, I've had a think...

If you're up to doing continuations... I'd like to see more in the "More Jean Grey, Less Wolverine" 'verse. Been a while since you've written anything for that. Yay Tara!

Alternatively...

Fandom: Person of Interest / Stargate SG-1
Characters: Reese, Finch, Samantha Carter
Prompt: "Are you a good witch, or a bad witch?"

Re: OM YES!!!!! Someone is offering PoI!

[identity profile] nevrafire.livejournal.com 2013-11-06 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh. *facepalm*
I didn't see it was just two.

Okay so... narrow it down to a focus on Reese & Finch, Carter OR Zoe From POI, And Phil Coulson or Tony Stark as the number. (I like Coulson a wee bit better but it's up to you)
and then if you can sneak in the others.

and then you can add the rest of the requested characters If there's room.

Better?

Sorry for the late reply, but I'm actually open to gen or het. Whatever you are inspired to write I shall be happy to read.

[identity profile] polgara-5.livejournal.com 2013-11-27 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
*headdesk* totally realized today that I never actually gave you a prompt to go with the placeholder. If I still have the spot (and I totally understand if you gave it to someone else, cause I'm a spaz and forgot) I've got the prompt

Fandoms: Buffy/Avengers
Characters: Buffy, Clint, Tony (pairings not necessary)
Prompt: Buffy wasn't quite sure how she ended up as part of the trio, but her life was definitely not boring.

[identity profile] ella-bee.livejournal.com 2013-12-02 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
I know that I'm FOREVER too late, but I just found this post and was SO HOPING that someone would ask for part 3 to your Castle / Percy Jackson crossover, but alas!

Still, I'm looking forward to whatever you post -- your crossovers are ALWAYS the best. :)

Re: Okay, I got it!

[identity profile] sulien.livejournal.com 2013-12-02 07:50 am (UTC)(link)
LOL! Or maybe a bit of both? After all, the White Council loves its treaties and intrigues as much as the Royals. I rather thought you'd enjoy this prompt. :)

No worries if this takes a few years, because I have yet to get the story I promised you in the 2012 Wishlist challenge written. It's percolating through my brain, but managing to put the kernels of the idea into a story format is eluding me, as usual. *grimaces*
