Wow. I've thought about Jossverse cross-overs myself, but...just...wow. The background here is very nicely done. The hints about how it all connects, what it all means are just peeking out, and it looks like a fun ride to piece it all together. The story's nicely done in Mal's voice, tight, very in-character, and his interaction with the grew spot on. I don't tend to like long fanfic WIPs, but I may just have to keep up with this one. Very, very well done, and I'm looking forward to more.

Ohhhh, yes. I've been waiting ever so eagerly for a new installment of this series, and it's well worth every second. Young Derrial's similarity to the Operative's way of thinking... well, that's chilling. Mal's POV is perfect, utterly perfect. The melding of the Watcher lore with the newly terraformed worlds is seamless and makes terrifying sense. This is the best of the crossovers I've read, and I offer you hearty applause!

I'm doing my hardest to keep this consistent with FF-verse rules instead of Buffy ones, but the Slayer idea stuck with me too much not to use the concept. =)

I do so love your Mal. I find him so richly portrayed as he was in the series and movie, and having his inner monologue to boot makes him that much more love/hatable.

I'm still intrigued to hear more in his head about what he feels with regards to the issue of the slayers. Should be much fun.

Poor River, I was wondering when someone would notice she's all by her lonesome. She's crew now, so she should get the fifth bunk. Love it, love it.

The characterisation is still perfect. And, last note:

I totally agree. With both the Mal googly-eyeing and the M/Rness. I am incurable.

Also, I forgot to mention that Mal's ritual of putting everyone to bed is SO MOTHERFUCKING CUTE. He's like the father figure ... but not quite, as he's a bit too sexy for that role. Just like on the show.

And this just keeps getting better. Gorgeous use of the English language there, and so in character it hurts. I especially loved Mal's trek through the ship and his brief, casual thoughts on each of the crew: Kaylee and Simon's shacking up, Jayne's playing guitar and probably missing Book too, Inara asleep... And very much loved the scene in his bunk with River. It read very true and very touching and also very amusing.

Keep going with this. Because, as always, I am hooked quite thoroughly.

Love Mal's contemplation as he sits on bridge, and then his ritual of putting the ship to bed. I hope that'll we see the conversation between Mal & Inara, and see where it goes.

*giggles* I can just picture Mal's face when he discovers River on his bed!

*dies laughing* Fucking fantastic. Poor Mal. So many girls want in his bed. :P You use a lot of lines from the show in this series, to good ends.

I thought Mal said he'd never use Inara's contacts to fence the lassiter. And yet! (I can really see him doing it if he had to, which it seemed like he did.)

I've seen "if'n" before, but I can't remember ever hearing it in canon. Is it? Or is it just so appropriately Western-sounding?

I think I've heard if'n in canon and used by Mal and Jayne in particular.

Besides a man that uses t'other would so use if'n.

And maybe your roots are showing, but in the Firefly 'verse we respect you for being a redneck 'cause it helps us with dialogue. :D

Yeah, unfortunately in reality people tend to look at me like a dumber than dirt hayseed. I have worked very hard to get rid of the accent, so much in fact that over the holidays when we were doin' the embarrass the kids thing, my mother played a video of my sister fo rmy kids and my son said...Why are we watching people we don't know! Bless his heart he didn't realize that was me and his aunt.

I have to say that I turned a friend into a Firefly fan last week...made her watch the entire series and the movie, too, well she is from LA, California and everytime they said anything in country speak she would just scrunch up her face and look at me to translate...

I tend to think she was makin' fun of me.

Having had way too much coffee and it being...dear god...it is almost 6:30a.m. and I ain't had a lick o' sleep.
So I will shut my gorram mouth and say...nighty night don't let the bed bugs bite.

Great story so far... can I ask what yer pairing is gonna end up as...I tend more toward Mal and River but would just like a little warning if this is gonna be a Mal/Inara thing.
