Name-iology

I've been tagged by [livejournal.com profile] izhilzha for "What's in a Name". Specifically, my LJ user name.

There's not a lot of a story to it, and some of you may have heard it before...

*clearing throat* A long long time ago About ten years ago, in a galaxy at a university far far away about an hour from here, I was introduced to the Wonders of High Speed Internet via the computer lab's T-1 connection. I was informed that free email accounts did indeed exist, though at the time the available message space was pretty small, so I signed onto Yahoo! and was then presented with a puzzler: what to call myself?

As I was not quite eighteen, and as much a sci-fi/fantasy geek then as I am today, I ended up choosing an element from a favorite movie in each genre and smushing them together. I'd probably choose differently today, but at the time I went with the classics: "Star Wars" and "The Princess Bride". Voila: Jedi Buttercup.

*takes a bow*

Anyone else not been tagged for this yet? Feel free to run with it; I'd be interested to read your answers.

Not much to mine. The latin word roughly translates as a sluggish coward; it roughly fits my pessimistic opinion of myself.

It means "Little Hamlet" to us and was the name of my second child in utero (which I can't seem to spell). The first ones name was ...Little Hamlet. We're really inventive, we are. I used it 'cause it seemed more interesting than my real name. The icon, incidentally, is my first "Little Hamlet" at the beach.
