Wow - this was excellent to read. I LOVE you. SUCH good analysis and I COMPLETELY agree.

Comments in no particular order that will probably make you think I am on crack ... but never fear, I'm like this all the time!!!

1. Hurrah for the get-past-Mal's-Issues-free card! :D
2. The "Do you know your part in all this?" "Do you?" exchange at the beginning of "Serenity" was added late to the script - so late that it wasn't in the shooting script. Joss says he put it in to make sure that the viewers knew that they were supposed to be focusing on Mal. He says "Serenity" is basically Mal's story told by River, which is interesting.
3. Mal can't lie to her, as she's a Reader, and River can't pretend to be feeling anything but what she's actually feeling due to her missing amygdala, so they'd always know exactly where they stood with each other. - HILARIOUS. Not sure why. Ridiculous yet true, perhaps? But HILARIOUS.
4. HE HELD RIVER'S HAND???!!!! AAAAH I WANT MY DVD. I fucking love the way Mal treats women.
5. "Objects in Space" is my favorite episode ever. Just thought I should come out and say that upfront. "Jaynestown" - close second.
6. OhmiGod. And you are making me see ALL THE MANY HINTS in the movie, and I'm thinking: oh my God. Could Mal/River really be CANON?!! WE NEED MORE MOVIES!!!!
7. I love this essay but should probably shut up now, huh? No more rambling, I promise.

Thanks. This is so essential. I loved this and it has made so many more justifications clear to me. Oooh, Mal/River is so the OTP. :D I need an icon.
