I ran across Jim C. Hines for his fairytale-retellings Princess series. When I came across his name again in connection with that series title, I was definitely there for that too. :)

It's a little more on the comedic side than the usual space-based post-apocalyptic sort of tale, but I definitely enjoyed it, and plan to pick up the second one when it's released.
