Re: The Sound of Silence

Ugh! I did that last year, and vowed never to let it happen again! In the end, I basically just hoped my bank account balance was correct, and started over on Jan 1 of this year. What a pain.

Hee. I did that once, a couple of years ago. I'd lost a couple of bank statements in the months between balancing it all out, so there was no hope of catching all the errors properly. I regretted it later, though; I lost years worth of expense tracking. I like being able to tell how much I've spent on books in the last year, or gasoline, or electricity.

All I have to do is stop buying large items like a treadmill and a game table. What am I thinking? Must be more fiscally responsible... *grin*

Hey, as long as you don't practice my brother's method of cash management. "Oh, I had about $30 in my account last I checked. Hey! That means I can afford another DVD! Must go to Best Buy ..."

Well, now I have to go out and rent this! I've seen the other two, of course. By the Sword is generally acknowledged as a movie every fencer should see at some point. I've been meaning to see Moulin Rouge, glad to hear you think it's OK (if not great).

See my comment above to [livejournal.com profile] sh1mm3r for more detailed thoughts about the movie. I'll have to put "By the Sword" on my to-rent list. As long as you promise me it's not like "Fire and Ice" -- it might be the ultimate skiing movie, but to a layman who wasn't expecting that, it was dumbfoundingly boring. =)

Me, too! I don't want to conform to party lines, especially since I'm a political moderate. On some things, I'm very right-oriented. However, I have some topics that I lean very left on. So, I like to keep my options open and see who I relate to the most.

I do have a few hot-button issues that I won't bend on, no matter what else might annoy me about a given candidate. Hence, my being a Bush fan. But I still have to laugh ruefully when I see bumper stickers like this one:

"CTHULHU IN 2004! Why vote for the lesser evil?"

Did you tell them you've been posting pics of them online and having your friends comment on them? :)

They know, in a vague way, that I have websites up. And I told them I'm posting a few of my better photos. I'm not going to come right out and tell them that their faces are on the Internet now, though. =)
