At this point in the timeline, after hearing (and experiencing first hand) about what Cameron says regarding even reprogrammed Terminators just going 'wrong' sometimes-- not to mention every A.I. they hear about inevitably turning into the new foundation of Skynet-- John's probably too spooked to even think a friendly A.I. might be possible. And, y'know. He's still a kid, enormous weight on his shoulders or no. The Atlantis folks would be good for his perspective. =)
