More than that, though, I am delighted and amazed. This was a request -- I admit it -- strongly biased toward utterly over-the-top crackfic (and I can well imagine some lovely over-the-top crackfic having arisen from it). Here, though, is something altogether rarer: a thoughtful, warmly characterized vignette that quite transcends the arrant silliness of the request.
Nor do you need worry on behalf of the TNG characterizations; Q is dead on target, unable to resist a challenge and utterly confident in his own infallibility. And Lwaxana? I think you've been uncommonly perceptive here; as much as she's often written as a figure of broad comedy, the strength of will and empathic nature you spotlight are very much at the heart of her character.
