I'm sick and tired of real-life conversations like, "Oh, I won't watch Amazing Race anymore because they have gay people on it all the time now", and (re: various legal changes) "I think it's ridiculous; don't they have enough privileges already?"

Having to deal with that kind of negativity on a regular basis is draining at the very best and downright psychologically toxic at the other end of the scale. Like you said, fandom is the place where you should be able to express your feelings without having to worry about that kind of drek. No one is forced to come here and read your thoughts or your stories, so if they take exception to what you post here, all they have to do is not read it. There's certainly no need for them to try to take their petty little hatreds out on you.
