Thank you for this, I really enjoyed reading it. I've always gotten the feeling that Book had a past very similar to The Operative's and that The Operative was headed down a similar path after the events in Serenity.

That said, I'm hoping the soon to be Shepherd doesn't trade fanatical adherence to one set of ideals for fanatical adherence to another.
