Mary gave me whiplash the first time I saw the movie; it was obvious she was upset from moment one, but it came off more as "witch-with-a-capital-B" type upset than anguish, because there was no context for it. I felt for her a lot more when I finally got it on DVD and had a chance to rewatch. Ray's still my favorite character in it, though. =)
