I have a similar one about my parents: after Mom's father died, my grandma moved up to live near us. Meanwhile, Dad's father had just ended his third marriage (two to death, one to divorce). The pair were old friends... and my granddad had this whole basement free to rent at the time... fill in the blanks! As a result, for about five years, until Granny died, my parents were actually step-siblings. =)
Mom's sister pounced on the opportunity to claim Granddad as "Step-Dad", too, and thus as an extra grandparent for her own kids, so the story still lingers on even now, a decade after Granny passed and Granddad moved on to Wife #5. I still get double-takes every time I explain that one; or when I refer to my brother in annoyance as my "step-cousin".
