I'd think trying to warn outright would just cause more problems for old!Spock than it would solve-- but he could never resist using his knowledge for the greater (and the personal) good.

As for his voice: I fell back on my old standby of write, watch an episode, read my fic aloud to check for consistency, then write some more. =)
