*grin* Yeah, the reunion there would be awesome. This "backstory" is what came to me first, though, for the prompt: a plausible reason for them to get in contact. That's my favorite way to write crossovers-- if you look hard enough, there's a logical way to connect virtually any combinations of fandoms. =)

I did know about the "High Council" thing, but Harry refers to Ancient Mai as the local head thereof, not anybody called "The Merlin". And the title from the books was too awesome not to use for the crossover. So I sort of invented a "World Council" to be over the local ones: the other five besides Ancient Mai and the Merlin would therefore be other "local" Council heads, too. (If, y'know, I were ever to write more of this).
