jedibuttercup: Riddick, walking across the steppe (riddick)
T; Chronicles of Riddick series; Riddick/Vaako, 2000 words. For [community profile] nightonficmountain.

There was a reason Riddick had come back to the fleet, beyond the basic courtesy of doing unto others. And it hadn't been to do anything so civilized as rule.

jedibuttercup: (transformers bayverse)

Brian had never asked for that kind of recognition, just the power to protect his family. Though possibly, that was what had gotten him into this situation in the first place.... Possibly, it was what had always gotten him into these kinds of situations, he admitted wryly.

An Energy Like No Other: Chapter 5

jedibuttercup: (transformers bayverse)
PG-13; Fast & Furious/Transformers movies, 4000 words. Chapter 4 of 5 (oops). Also, part of a series.

"And on that cheery note," Sam snarked, patting Bee on the roof as he and Mikaela returned to their seats. "Unless anyone's got a different idea-- then Jordan, here we come."

jedibuttercup: (transformers bayverse)
PG-13; Fast & Furious/Transformers movies, 3700 words. Chapter 3 of 4. Also, part of a series.

The mech transformed like an old man cracking his back in an attempt to stand up straight, but when it was done, he was even bigger and bristlier than Optimus. Mikaela watched tensely as red eyes blinked open and the Seeker turned its head to take in its surroundings.

jedibuttercup: Dracula, framed by bats (dracula)
T; Out of the Dark; 2,000 words. Slash, missing scene for the book. Fic #4 for Yuletide 2016.

The man who'd sat at Stephen's bedside when he lay dying, pressing Stephen's hand against his chest and taking all the blame for the failed defense of their people on his own shoulders, was no monster. And if he had to tell him that every day from here until eternity, he was more than willing to do so.

jedibuttercup: Tom Mason and John Pope (mason/pope)
Title: Now That the Dawn Has Come: Parts 1 & 2 of 10

Author: Jedi Buttercup

Rating: R/Mature: for language, canon-level violence, and some sexuality
Disclaimer: The words are mine; the world is not.

Summary: "Alas! We were lost [...]! We shattered ourselves! We left our elder brothers behind! Our younger brothers! Where did they see the sun? Where must they be staying, now that the dawn has come?" (In which Tom and Pope undertake to save the human race. Starting with each other.) 106,135 words.

Warnings: Post-apocalyptic setting; canon-typical h/c, angst, and interpersonal conflict.

Notes: A Falling Skies canon divergence story. Follows "Waiting for the Dawn", which set up the AU during the back half of Season 3. Contains slash between two angsty, foul-mouthed, conflicted survivors of an alien apocalypse, and chronicles the shifting evolution of their family as they do their best to save Earth from the Espheni threat. (Because canon's idea of how to pull that off... could have used a little applied logic.) Title, summary, and chapter quotes borrowed once again from the Popol Vuh, specifically the Dennis Tedlock translation.

Acknowledgements: Written for the 2016 Extreme Big Bang. Many thanks to debirlfan for the timely alpha read; lanalucy for keeping the challenge going; and everyone who encouraged me along the way!

Title: His Greatest Gift
Author: [livejournal.com profile] jedibuttercup
Fandom(s): Olympus Has Fallen (2013)
Rating: PG-15; slash
Warnings/Notes: An Olympus Has Fallen what-comes-next, established relationship story. AU for London Has Fallen, especially one particular detail not established in OHF. :) Part of the Duty 'verse, though readable on its own. More detailed notes on the story posts.

Summary: "For the last fifteen months Ben and Mike had been slowly figuring out what they were to each other within the boundaries of suits and earpieces and national responsibilities. Long enough to know whether the initial attraction between them was mostly a byproduct of adrenaline, close quarters and secrecy, or whether there was a firmer foundation there, if they were willing to take the risk...." 16,600 words.

Notes: An Olympus Has Fallen what-comes-next, established relationship story. AU for London Has Fallen, especially one particular detail not established in OHF, though I did borrow a couple of lines. :) Part of the Duty 'verse.

Sources: As always, Secret Service details were embroidered from fictional depictions, Wikipedia, and a tell-all book or two. A couple of agent names were borrowed from Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan series; and one (female) character appears from the Die Hard universe. (Because I alluded to a John McClane quote in a previous story, and decided it would make sense for a Republican to have been elected instead of a Democrat in 2008-- judging by the in-movie timeline-- if "Live Free, Die Hard" happened to be canon.)
