Sorry for the delay, guys. The work-project that's been playing havoc with my writing life these last few weeks was supposed to be wrapped up before noon today. *slightly mad laughter* Uh. Yeah. Anyway.

What is the Wishlist?

The Wishlist is a multi-fandom Christmas fanfiction fest. It started very small and simple several years ago: the premise was simply to write twenty-four ficlets in response to twenty-four prompts, posted between 1 Dec and 24 Dec. Fandom gifts, if you will. Since then it's grown and changed a bit.

The community and the rules in detail can be found here.

I have signed up to be a writer. If you want to give me a prompt, please leave a comment on this entry; and if you want to see what I wrote for it in past fests, just click the wishlist tag.

Rules

  • I accept the first 24 prompts I am given, regardless of who you are or if I know you.

    (PROMPT LIST FULL!)

  • You give me characters/pairing, a fandom and a prompt. (Please don't skip the prompt part).

  • If I'm not offering the fandom you're requesting, I reserve the right to refuse the prompt.

The current offerings list is: Buffy/Angel-verse (no comics); Stargate SG-1; Firefly/Serenity; Star Trek XI or TOS; The Marvel Cinematic Universe (Avengers, Guardians, etc.); the Fast and the Furious series; Leverage; The Dresden Files; Grimm; Falling Skies; The Walking Dead/Fear the Walking Dead; Person of Interest; Sleepy Hollow; Jurassic Park/World; and the Riddick-verse. (I do sometimes take other requests, especially continuations of other short-stories or short-story series on a case-by-case basis; if it doesn't fit the above fandom list, conditional acceptance mostly depends on how long I've been out of the 'verse and how much research it would take to refresh.)

  • If I find your prompt in any way offensive, I will disregard it, too. Fair warning.

  • Your prompts can be for a crossover or not - either is fine - and should be in line with what I usually write. (That's a loose guideline, I know, but basically don't be deliberately ornery, okay? I don't have the energy for it.) It can be a quote, an idea, a specific situation, but the more you give me, the more I have to work with. Throwing Character X/Character Y, 'whatever' at me is going to get you 'whatever'.

(NOTE: If your prompt is longer than 25 words, or if you request an idea that can't reasonably be covered in 500-3000 words? See again: whatever. I'm not a magic story-writing machine, and I already have one full time job!)

  • If you don't have an LJ account, you can give your DW/IJ/TtH/AO3/whatever name in an anonymous comment, but do make sure to sign it. If you do not sign with a name I will not use your prompt.

  • I answer the prompts in the order I like best and post them, one a day, starting 1st, Dec 2015. (At least, that's the goal. I don't always hit it, especially the last year or two given RL events, but whatever I don't make, I'll finish before the next December 1 for sure; I always have).

And that's it! Prompt away: the 24 Days of Ficcish Christmas begin only a month away!
jedibuttercup: (lm - dawn)
PG; B:tVS/Stargate SG-1. 700 words, in the Trust Building Exercises 'verse. For [livejournal.com profile] lizbet0.

WIP Meme

Jul. 20th, 2012 11:18 pm
jedibuttercup: (shen me?)
Been spending the last few days revamping my tagging system here on LJ - good grief, I have a lot of fic posts, I'm only up through July '07 adding main characters and such, this is gonna take weeks - and came across an old meme in the process that tickled my fancy.

Originally by way of [livejournal.com profile] tzzzz: Post a single sentence from each WIP you have (or as many as you want to pick). No context, no explanations. No more than one sentence!

WIP Meme: Can You Guess the Fandoms? )

What is the Wishlist?

The Wishlist is a multi-fandom Christmas fanfiction fest. It started very small and simple three years ago: the premise was simply to write twenty-four ficlets in response to twenty-four prompts, posted between 1 Dec and 24 Dec. Fandom gifts, if you will. Since then it's grown and changed a bit.

The community and the rules in detail can be found here.

I have signed up to be a writer. If you want to give me a prompt, please leave a comment on this entry; and if you want to see what I wrote for it last year to get an idea of what you can ask, here's my 2010 master list.

Rules

  • I accept the first twenty-four prompts I am given, regardless of who you are or if I know you.
(ALL SPOTS FULL! If you missed it, I'm sure I'll be playing again next year. *grin*)

  • You give me characters/pairing, a fandom and a prompt.

  • If I'm not offering the fandom you're requesting, it doesn't count. (Unless you can talk me into it.)

The current offerings list is: Buffy/Angel-verse; Stargate SG-1/Atlantis; Firefly/Serenity; Eureka; Star Trek XI; Fast and the Furious series; Leverage; The Mummy/Mummy Returns series; The Dresden Files; The Sorcerer's Apprentice; Falling Skies; and, live-action Transformers.

  • Your prompts can be for a crossover or not. Either is fine. It can be a quote, an idea, a specific situation, but the more you give me, the more I have to work with. Throwing Character X/Character Y, whatever at me is going to get you whatever.

  • If you don't have an LJ account, you can give your DW/IJ/TtH/AO3/whatever name in an anonymous comment, but do make sure to sign it. If you do not sign with a name I will not use your prompt.

  • I answer the prompts in the order I like best and post them, one a day, starting 1st, Dec 2011.

And that's it! Prompt away: the 24 Days of Ficcish Christmas are only six weeks away!

(In the meantime, I'll be clearing the rest of the rewards and auction fic I owe; I haven't forgotten.)
jedibuttercup: (plot tribble)
So, the August Fic-a-Day will end shortly, and I'll be able to post that Falling Skies cross I've been burning through. After that, I have two (2) auction fics to polish, nine (9) reward fic to finish, and one big bang to work on. NATURALLY, this means it's time to resurrect the Drabble Request meme!

The first 10 people to comment on this post get to request a drabble from you. Post all fandoms you're willing to write for.

Comment on this post, and I'll comment back with the link to the drabble when it's done. Just give me a fandom (or two, for a crossover), a name or pairing, and a one or two word prompt. Use your imaginations!

Fandoms I'm willing to write (or cross) for this challenge include, automatically, anything I've written more than 7500 words in: the Buffyverse (B:tVS and Angel); the Stargateverse (SG-1 and Atlantis); Firefly; Eureka; Star Trek (TOS, XI or TNG); the Fast and Furious series; Leverage; the Dresden Files books; CSI (original); the Mummyverse; Sorcerer's Apprentice; Harry Potter; Falling Skies; Pitch Black/COR; Pirates of the Caribbean; Boondock Saints; Lord of the Rings; Jane Austen; Percy Jackson and the Olympians; Jurassic Park; Die Hard; Fifth Element; and the Tin Man miniseries. Other fandoms will be considered on a case-by-case basis; the easier it is to refresh on the better your odds.

Answers to previous iterations of this meme are indexed here on LJ, if you want to see the kinds of things I've answered for this before. Caveats are that these prompts will be lowest on my ladder of Things To Write, and I'm only promising 100-500 words (though knowing me, you may get more). But they're excellent writer's block fodder. *grin*

ETA: ALL SPOTS TAKEN as of 3:30PM PDT. Wow, you guys are fast!
jedibuttercup: (plot tribble)
This is the completed list of prompts - with links to the fic - from previous drabble meme posts. Y'all are crazy, but I have not been conquered yet!

Round 1: April 21, 2006 )
Round 2: January 21, 2007 )
Round 3: October 17, 2007 )
jedibuttercup: (gil grissom)
PG, CSI + Pern; Grissom-centric gen. 1200 words, for [livejournal.com profile] kerravonsen.

It turned its head then to look at him, slitting open multiply-layered eyelids to fix him with jewel-bright, faceted eyes; Gil had never seen anything like it.

Pausing To Wonder )

(x-posted at AO3)
jedibuttercup: (ardeth bey)
PG, Mummy Returns/ST:TNG-ish; follows "The Return of the Medjai". 1500 words, for [livejournal.com profile] jilltanith.

The thing was, his name wasn't actually Ardeth Bey. Not in this lifetime.

A Remarkable Resemblance )

(x-posted to AO3)
jedibuttercup: (devious teal'c)
PG, Sam/Teal'c; Stargate SG-1; "Unending" fic. 900 words, for [livejournal.com profile] maevebran.

She is bent over the finely crafted shape of a cello, arms poised in elegant if hesitant motion, the pale arch of her neck distracting in its vulnerability.

The Food of Love )

(x-posted to [livejournal.com profile] stargatefic and at AO3)
jedibuttercup: Illyria (illyria)
PG-13, Drogyn-fic; Angel/Silmarillion. 500 words, for [livejournal.com profile] treppie.

Even the thousand years granted the Battlebrand would seem less than a blink to the beings interred deep in the inner Well.

Gazing Into the Abyss )

(x-posted at [livejournal.com profile] ats_btvs_fanfic and AO3)
jedibuttercup: (sam and jack)
PG, Sam/Jack; Stargate SG-1/Jane Austen. 500 words, for [livejournal.com profile] aella_irene.

There's a moment when Sam swears she can feel the wind in her hair, taste the salt on her tongue.

Domestic Virtues )

(x-posted to [livejournal.com profile] stargatefic and at AO3)
jedibuttercup: (yuletide)
Okay. So [livejournal.com profile] pprfaith did this first, then [livejournal.com profile] polgara_5 and [livejournal.com profile] azraelz_angel and [livejournal.com profile] avamclean. But I was totally okay with resisting the urge to follow until I started reading their prompts....

*ahem* Anyway. Two extra limiters on this, since I've got other fic deadlines looming all around: (a) these are going to all end up drabble length, or maybe up to 500 words, so keep that in mind as you prompt; and (b) I'm limiting the fandom list to ten I've written either lots of or very recently.

Wishlist 2010
